TV Comparison 55" Sony vs Hisense vs LG

I'm in the market for a new 55'' TV owing to having a ten year old model on its last legs.

I was looking to spend about 900-1000 and I'm having a bit of trouble deciding between two models. And unfortunately I know very little about currently. And a lot of advice around seems to be geared towards the higher end models.

This Hisense TV seems pretty much the same as this Sony one. The only big difference I could see was the brand, and I heard Sony was much better for any warranty issues than Hisense

Although while copy pasting those links I also noticed a third TV that could be okay.

But I'm not sure how LG stacks up as a brand nowadays. It does seem to have the best reviews of the three on JB.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • In my view, all the 3 models are good. I personally went for Hisense because of their 3 years factory warranty compared to one year warranty from other brands.

  • I went for a 55 sony x9500g and was extremely happy with it. LG OLED’s are awesome but out of your budget. Check the sony eBay store for seconds - that’s where I got mine for $1000 end of last year.

    • Thanks for the idea. I checked the eBay store and they don't seem to have any of that model in stock. And a brand new one is a bit of out of my budget at 1500~ at JB.

      • Yes. Its a 2 year old model now. They should be starting to clear the 9000 and 9500H models soon, just keep an eye out. Jumping from a 10 year old tv, you’ll be amazed at the difference - no matter which brand you get really.

  • Save up and buy a LG CX and you'll never look back.

  • If you can spend a bit more go the Hisense Q8. Better specs then the top brands but might be some quality control issues. 55 is usually on special for about 1300
