In whiskey drinking there is no real 'better than'… the tastes are all personal, even the same bottle will taste different to different people, different batches also may exhibit different tastes as well. For others the question is the value you get - is this bottle worth it, as opposed to taste.
The best judge is… you buy them both and do A/B test and see which do you like.

I have bought this in the past duty free along with the Glenmorangie Signet. I did get it cheaper than here , but that was a while ago and duty free as mentioned. There are a lot better drops at a cheaper price than this. At the time I bought it for $200 something and was disappointed at this price range. When Macallan moved into the ' expressions' range to capture a different market they still priced them just as expensive as there core aged statements. However the vcore range is much better. Do yourself a favour and buy some more obscure named whiskey at 'Nicks'. Plenty of range at a good price from your floral, sherry, peat etc
signet is by far my most favourite scotch at any price, not that ive tried a $1000+ one
I love it so much that when I cashed out all my virgin velocity points, I used them all to buy as much as I could

Lovely, smooth and chocolately. I bought dad a bottle recently for his Birthday on a Boozebud special. Such a different but delicious whiskey

a lot of people are deceived by the NAS but its made up of whiskies up to 40 years old, and you can really taste it
your dad is a lucky man!
Big fan of these but really can't afford a single bottle for this price, might be good for others
