thats a great way to waste some money

Really depends what you perceive value to be for what you're into :)

I pour thousands into my car, and never really spend money on nice clothes, holidays etc.

Where as many people are happy with a Toyota Camry and never wash it or service it on time.

@deme don't think so buddy, i'm in the same with my car/motorbike but unfortunately i like to spend money on nice clothes, holidays ect. Hence why i'm on ozbargain lmfao

maybe your comment was just super cringe? x

@ignited141: Haha I’m happy with my jeans and superdry shirts. Can’t go wrong with some of the deals on vans/nikes/Reebok’s/new balance/adidas shoes on this site though. Gotten so many pairs for $25-$50 heavily reduced delivered.

            • +1

@Chthonic: im happy with my $3 white tshirts from kmart/bigw and $5 shorts. shoes on the other hand are $200 +

              different people different freaks :D

              • @alwayspoor: Haha are you one of those guys that's really into sneakers or are we talking super premium leather styles? I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with sneakers but just due to how good some of the deals have been I've got almost 20 pairs - and yeah the average price I seem to be happy to pay is $25-$50 once reduced/clearance/delivered.

      • No one spends money these days on holidays with covid.
Your ozbargain history shows travel deals and you being interested in travel bargains and credit cards? not to mention the refund saga. Also you went bankrupt and got done for drink driving?
I don't know if I trust you to be the best person to be openly honest or the best judge of value for money.

always poor made a good observations of its a great way to waste money for you. Since you don't seem to be a responsible driver.

Also 20 pairs of shoes? Even at discount prices as you claim.. seems decadent and wasteful mister bankruptcy.

  • im curious about coats (ceramic, graphene, etc). arent these just liquids you wipe onto the paint? i was looking around and decided to get paint protection film instead. i didnt think coats will give any protection? or am i missing something?

    • Check out some of the reviews of professional full body ceramic coating. There's a reason why some cars look absolutely stunning and super shiny (obviously with appropriate ongoing care of course).

Even some of the websites that offer the service check out the before and after photos, and yes it does last. Company will usually dictate what their policy is on any chance of potential future stain, mark etc etc

    • Youtube videos show that its relatively easy to coat your own car. What are the chances of screwing it up and is it possible to cause permanent damage?

      • +5

The hard part is the preparation. Are you skilled enough with a RO buffer to remove swirling? Otherwise you're just protecting the "cobwebs" in your paint. The actual coating part is the cheap bit.

      • +1

It will also take many hours of preparation and at least close to a hundred bucks worth of stuff if you don’t have them already

  • +9

"$30 surcharge to clean outside of vehicles"

Considering washing the car is a must before ceramic coating, it's a bit stupid to have it as an extra.

There is no mention of paint correction so will they just put the ceramic coat on without it, locking in existing swirl marks and other imperfections?

Think you need to amend your title to show price before cash back.

    • I agree. This is silly and should just be included in the price.

The wash would be very detailed and thorough, a lot of prep involved. They’re a reputable group, not like they’re just going to hose it down then throw the coats on and send you off.

Just DIY using Meguiar's liquid ceramic wax. Works like a charm. Save you 100s.

Highly recommended. Apply the base layer DRY, not as suggested.

Ceramic coating has value. The difference between this and a pro doing it is the preparation and the application, both which take significant amount of time. I bought a similar although more expensive DIY ceramic wax from Waxit and because I worked on my mum's brand new car, there wasn't as much preparation required. Also this is very different to the ceramic hybrid stuff that Meguiars, Turtle etc sell.

But if it's an older car, the preparation is A LOT more than just a wash. Decontaminate, clay bar, compound and polish are all steps that need to be done.

I consider myself somewhat of an enthusiast and embarrassingly, I have to admit I've never done the full process to ceramic coat my car because I just don't have the time. The steps prior to the ceramic application would probably take a day to get done properly by myself and application of the ceramic would be 2-3 hrs easy depending on the size of the car.

Ceramic coating isn't expensive because the actual coating is expensive but the preparation and application on an older car takes time so it's largely labour costs.

  • do they do NSW ?

  • Has anyone used these guys before and can vouch for their work?

I did my Mazda cx30 with this exact deal last year. Their shop is in fyshwick ACT. They completed job in half a day. When I brought in car they didn't explain product even after I picked car u.p.One year later the coating is still intact and good. When it rains water doesn't sheet on car, it kinda slides off. They have done a good job and would do it again, other ceramic coating in ACT is upwards of 1k when I enquired.
