Johnny Reb Hume Protective Jeans - Motorcycle Clothing Thoughts and Suggestions

https://www.johnnyreb.com.au/products/mens-hume-protective-j…

Got an email saying Johnny Reb is having a 30% storewide. Had a look into their protective jeans and was wondering if anyone has this pair of jeans or knows someone who does.

What are your thoughts on them in terms of quality and daily riding.
Are they comfortable ? Are they comparable with a known brand like Draggin Jeans ?

What jeans would you like to recommend for daily riding?

Feel free to discuss your views.

if going faster then 100km/h , full leathers

80km/h and under with kevlar is generally acceptable

i came off on the hume highway at 110km/h due to another motorist and not having ABS on my bike at the time which forced me to lowside it.

turned my textile jacket into swiss cheese (rolled from back to front about half way through) , but my leather pants held up quite well. have not tested a similar slide with kevlar jeans but gravel is no friend to any rider or bike.

can't comment on the brand as i have never heard about it before but buy the best gear you can afford

Seems to be how much and where the lining is determines a good and bad jean. If you want to wear normal jeans you can also buy overpants, some are designed to be removed with shoes on.

They don't specify if full kevlar or only in patches (sometimes just knees, hips & bum)
    .

  • These looks to be similar to Draggins in that there's kevlar lining at the hips, knees and leg seams but you can't tell how thick the lining is. I'd have at a guess the reason they've included the hip and knee armour is to try and meet the requirements to achieve an 'A' rating under the CE EN17092-4:2020 standard.

Personally, for the extra $100 I'd be going for these because being single-layer they're a lot more confortable - I am in no way associated with the brand.

you need to cover your whole body in kevlar and/or leather

    textiles are not enough!
jeans with kevlar patches are not enough!

i believe leather tends to be more reusable

on a motorcycle your skin is the equivalent of the metal and plastic on a car
you need to spend a lot of money on protective clothing because you are adding the bits to your body that are not on the motorcycle
it's a part of the cost of the motorcycle.

it's not going to be comfortable.
if you want to be comfortable sell your motorcycle and buy a car. then you can wear whatever you want and sit in airconditioning.
if you want clothes that are comfortable to wear when you are not on the motorcycle, and don't want to change, then get secure over-clothes that you can take off.
if you don't want to carry them around, then get storage for your motorcycle and secure it very well.

most of all buy the absolute best rated and expensive helmet you can find
    your brain deserves it
