Which Is Best Tablet under $100

How long will they last if used by an adult for daily emails, browsing, buying stuff, watching movies. I even see some have 4G capability for calls.
What's with the "Unbranded ", bit on Ebay. Are there any useful products out there? Not worried about Gaming.

Choice did a recent investigation and they rated MDMA the best in the under $100 category, noting that it lasts up to 6 hours

My last <$100 android tablet was lag as ef. Doesn't load Google store. Apps don't run because of low ram and low processing power. Did I mention laggy?

  • Android Tablets are mediocre at best. The iPad is serious game in the market, to the point where even I think it's good value. I say this, so you can temper your expectations (Google and OEMs have largely abandoned the market, or don't try hard enough).

The Aldi Onix/Medion tablet seems "meh" for $100, but you might find one at cashies or so for half that. That is a very typical Chinese Tablet, with many similar to it, and many others worse. A decently better tablet would be one of the Xiaomi Mi Pads. They're above your budget, and not in our Australian market, but maybe there's someone selling it in eBay Australia?

What's a more successful means would be to find a used one on gumtree for $150 and talk the seller down to $99. Then you're more likely to get a name brand model like a Lenovo Tab, Sony Xperia, or an older Galaxy Tab model. If you're lucky you might be able to score an even older model iPad, but one that's STILL getting software updates from Apple (eg/ iPad 5th-gen, or iPad Mini 5, iPad Air 2, or iPad Pro 1).

    • The second link is for a lenovo tab its $99 and would be ok for the OP but its performance wouldnt be great at that price i would imagine .
i have a 10' older amazon tab and performance isnt very good , load time etc , i recently bought my mum an ipad as they are easier to use its waaaaaaay more expensive than the op's budget the ipad cost $499 , i only mention it as its buttery smooth and responsive and the screen is just wow but thats the otherside of the spectrum and pricepoint ,

TLDR : you get what you pay for , as kangal mentioned you may be able to by a 2nd hand brand name for a reasonable price you may get lucky on ebay .Do a bit of homework read reviews and compare tablets.

    • Agreed with you completely. I still use my iPad Air 2 (since Oct 2014) and it is still running reasonably with the latest iOS. Cost ~$600 back then but worth it.

The lowest end iPad 8th Gen is $499 with an A12 chip will last for years. Maybe try to find a 7th gen ore refurb unit to save some money.

  • Another thing you need to consider when talking about used tablets (not so much iOS, but android), or any new android tablets from China… privacy.

I say this because lately I've been getting hit with a lot of scam calls, emails, and messages. If you use a tablet and it has malware, or is susceptible to malware. Well, they could compromise your services (eg Netflix), your email address (and other things associated with it), and perhaps even your banking details if you make online purchases. Or they might be able to steal pieces of information from you, and bring those together. Worst thing I could think of is identity theft and fraud, but gaining access to your property's address is also very dangerous (home invasion/burglary).

So when you buy your next tablet, just take the right precautions.
