American Airlines How to Get Cheap Points?

Thought I try this forum see if anyone knows how to get cheap AA points so that current miles don't expire?

I have miles expiring soon unless I add some new points but not sure of any cheap ways to get points whilst in Australia?

Can you transfer them to Qantas? Or book a trip with Qantas and add your AA number in?

  • AAdvantage eShopping site

Pretty much all US based stores… but maybe you can figure something out. Like buy a gift for a friend in the US or something

  • Buy some more points from them, they regularly run sales.

Or follow one of the many guides to this problem,

  • Do surveys at

    www.e-rewards.com.au

Which you use survey rewards for AA points.

However it might take you a little time to get enough points to convert. Its a good long term strategy.

You could alternatively rent a car from budget for a day to get 500 points. Dont take any insurance, go round the block and return. Choose a midday rental etc for cheapest rate.

I guess the value depends on how many points you are trying to "save" from extinction

    • Depends on how you've joined e-rewards. I only have the option to redeem for Velocity Points, nothing else.

What I've done previously is donate the minimum of 1,000 miles to a charity. It extends the life of your miles instantly and doesn't cost you any cash.

  • Just buy 1,000 miles at full price, that's around 30ish bucks?
