Looking to Buy a Nintendo Switch

Wife and I were both planning on getting each other a switch for our respective 30ths. Fortunately, we discussed it beforehand and avoided doubling up.

We're looking to buy in the next 2 two weeks.

What are we best to keep our eye on? Should we be trying to pricematch somewhere? Are there bundles somewhere that are good value?

i was thinking of waiting until christmas new year when the new model will probably hopefully drop?

That could work, but unless the calendar does something funky, I doubt Christmas and new years will happen in the next two weeks.

but how annoyed will you be if you buy one now, and in 8 months the new one is heaps better?

The upgraded model has been rumored to be "just around the corner" for years.
Still nothing substantial to indicate a release anytime soon.

@FireRunner: The one thing I've learnt is to never wait for Nintendo, that the new Xbox is always impressive, and Sony is very predictable.

@FireRunner: it came out in 2017
you really don't believe the people saying this year?

@bargain huntress: It's about time a revision is released but it's Nintendo we're speaking about.
I'll believe when they confirm it. I don't doubt the possibility but I wouldn't hold my breath either.
Who knows what's it going to be like anyway, it might be a minor upgrade or it could be major.
Could be a home console instead of hybrid. If I were after a console I'd just buy it at the next special price instead of always waiting on rumors

@FireRunner: The rumors I’ve seen lately appear to be a lot more solid than they have been previously. I don’t disagree that the rumors have been floating around for a while but the information is starting to paint an actual picture of what the upgraded Switch could be like, example here and more here in relation to the new OS update.

I wouldn’t buy a Switch now at this stage in its lifecycle.

                Up to OP though.

"Should we be trying to pricematch somewhere?"

        Price match from where, exactly?

        • +1 vote

Yeah, I mean you might as well buy from there

I was wondering if someone was going to say "Yes, take the price from [Some store] and take it to [Other store] for the best price right now".

Do some research to see if you can find an "older" Nintendo Switch off of Gumtree or Ebay etc…

With this "older" version of the Switch and a special technique, you can play backups of Switch games off of an SD card (which you of course have bought in full).

So basically you can play games without actually having to carry around the actual game cartridges if you know what I mean. (Less wear and tear on the game cartridges = maximum resale value).

    It is Ozbargain after all.

Nah, I'm not looking to pirate games, just to buy a Switch at a good price.
