Esatto Heat Pump Dryer EHPD7 Drain Hose

I am curious to know if anyone who bought the EHPD7 has had any success connecting the supplied drain hose?
There is some discussion about it on various review sites and just about everyone appears to be having problems.
The user manual advises to first remove the drain hose which goes to the water container using pliers.
I have tried it and it won't budge. I think that using force will damage the hose and that means it would be a major job to replace it if the user wanted to revert to using the water container.
Also, the supplied external drain hose has a clear plastic joiner in one end which doesn't appear to serve any purpose. It needs to be removed so that the hose can be attached to the dryer. I have tried to remove it without success and once again, I don't want to damage the hose.
It appears to be poorly designed and a lack of quality control by Esatto.

  • I have and the clear bit is with the hose. I didn’t change to a different hose I just used that one and put in the drain.

    • OK so how did you manage to remove the hose which goes to the water container?
And how could you attach the hose to the dryer with the clear plastic joiner still attached. It couldn't possibly fit.

    • Thanks I did watch the video before I tried to attach the drain hose. Unfortunately, he doesn't show the process and doesn't comment on the clear plastic joiner. However, someone in the comments section did.

      • dunno what the joiner is there for. hit the rubber hoses with a hairdryer or heat gun if you're having issues getting it off.

  • I was able to easily remove the drain hose which goes to the water container using pliers, however, the clear plastic joiner to the external hose looks hard to remove. did you have any success in removing it ?

The instruction manual is useless. It doesn't even mention anything about the plastic joiner.

Update: I removed it after using hair blow dryer on hot setting for half a minute and then slow and steadily was able to remove it.

  • I just empty the water container. Easy peasy and I don't have an ugly drain hose hanging in the laundry basin. 😊

  • I just got this dryer installed and wanted to share the drainage hose experience for future purchasers.

    1. Used pliers to remove the existing hose.
    2. Don't remove the clear plastic piece on the external hose, I don't believe that piece is suppose to be removed. Instead remove the other end with the gray cap, that slips right off.
    3. Connect the external hose and you are done.
    • like you just yank the grey cap out? ive been trying with pliers and the mothertrucker won't budge aurgh

      • I gave up. Now I just empty the water container. Easy peasy and I don't have an ugly drain hose hanging in the laundry basin.

Thank you! I got to the point of taking the back cover off to see what was underneath, for if I could somehow get the black bit out. After seeing it's clearly all part of the pump and YouTube failed to help, thought I'd try here.
