eBay Australia Information & Contact

Can someone tell me, is eBay only offering phone call back support to Anchor stores?
My husband has an Anchor subscription and I have just a basic one and I don’t seem to have the same call back options, just Chat online.

I would love to know how I can speak to a human.

Last three customer disputes have been ridiculous. First one the item was delayed because of covid and the border restrictions etc. Parcel was going to Mexico. Although it was on its way, there was no updates on tracking from Australia post and they refunded the buyer ($180) The item arrived 3.5 months later and ebay told me to contact the buyer to ask for the money. (the buyer never responded)
They also told me to ask australia post for compensation. But of course I’m not entitled to that because the item was delivered.

Second case, the item was sent to the US and for some reason sat in San Francisco for a week not moving. The customer got the item and ebay still refunded them ($140)

Now this case the guy bought item. item tracks to be delivered, I send POD and pic of the item in the mailbox.
ebay still refund the buyer. ($78)

Am I doing something wrong here?
How can I call ebay.
The Live help is a joke, I’ve been told since March that someone will call me
within 72 hours. Never a call.

I know it’s not much money, but it’s principal, I’m out of pocket an item, the postage charges and ebay fees.

3.5 months waiting for a package?!

    Yeah I'd be seeking a refund too…

So you’d still expect a full refund and keep the item?

      • I'd be guessing the item wasn't coming by that stage… Refund would've been processed inside the 2 month mark. If the item arrived, I wouldn't be paying to send it back

I don’t want the item back. Just want the customer to pay for the order they made.

Shipping cost for me to Mexico was around $40, plus the ebay fees and the cost of my goods.

You think it’s okay for the seller to absorb that?
I’m not attacking you btw i’m just genuinely interested.

  • Was shipping times to US and Mexico reasonable pre-2020 in your own experience? or had you only started selling in 2020 on ebay or/and start shipped outside AU?

  • I only started selling on ebay last year. I sell elsewhere but shipping times were fine before covid and some packages are quicker than others.

Seems like you have a pattern here of having a bad time when shipping outside Australia. I would recommend not shipping outside Australia.

Welcome to my nightmare. eBay robot refunds need to factored in to your margins. eBay will always protect eBay’s reputation as a marketplace for buyers at the sellers expense.

My latest nightmare: buyer claims non delivery, item scanned as delivered, buyer opens not received claim. I dispute claim, eBay closes in my favour as tracking shows delivery, Item is put back in post box by client as return to sender, user opens credit card chargeback as they cannot open a second not delivered claim in eBay. eBay contacts me again as buyer has opened a chargeback, the scans now show show item delivered back to my P.O. Box so eBay closes in the buyers favour and refunds them plus charges me a $30 fee for losing a chargeback claim against eBay managed payments (ie they chose for me to lose then charged me a fee for losing) Just like your examples these are real wtf moments but will happen around once a month if your a volume seller.

    You answered your own question

eBay only offering phone call back support to Anchor stores

You only have a basic offering.

  • I have this buyer from USA, only 11th days (8th days for business) already open disputes. Item was on USA from 3rd Apri, there is delay note in the tracking. Today, a week later (5th days for business) buyer has already escalated the case, not even a response to our reply in dispute. eBay has put the case on hold as the tracking shows item on the way.

    • Yep. That’s my pain. The item shows it landed in San fran. But was sitting there for a week or more. But the tracking wasn’t tracking on ebay, only if you manually put the number in Australia Post.
So the customer kept telling me I hadn’t sent it because that’s what it seemed like in Ebay. I kept sending the link to australia post with the tracking number. I contacted my australia post, and I asked the buyer if they would contact USPS and see if there was a delay as that method would probably be quicker.
The buyer said No, you contact them it’s your responsibility. Fair enough. The buyer eventually received the item and thanked me. ebay closed the case in the buyers favour and told me to ask the buyer for the money.
