  The chess book is good but covers only the very basic such as moving pieces, rules and basic principles. I prefer videos to learn and recommend to watch GothamChess on Twitch and Youtube such as this video. He might not be the best player/streamer but he is informative, interesting and entertaining. He also has videos on great beginner openings and opening tier lists for beginners. I recommend watching his videos on London System/Stonewall attack and Sicilian/Caro-kann to get started so you have 2 openings for both white and black. Then I would suggest watching and practising endgames with promoting pawns and checkmating with queen and rook, queen, rook.

    Whilst Gotham Chess is good, it's entertainment. Pure and simple. If you want to learn then simply watching YouTube vids is not the best way to retain information.
    That's why books are great for learning. Highlights, notes then making questions from notes with maybe flashcards is what I have found to work best.
    Just good to remember the difference between entertainment and learning
