OZBARGAIN

Hi everyone,

As the representative for the new(ish) Harvey Norman Kitchenware as well as BiG BUYS, I thought I'd take the opportunity to thank OzB for their feedback and custom over at BiG BUYS with the biggest discount code we've run at our new store. It's 15% off the order subtotal (if your order comes in under $100 there will be $9 delivery)

Example discounts:
6 Piece Global Knife Set - Regular $298 - Discounted $245.65
10 Piece Scanpan Impact Cookware - Regular $398 - Discounted $338.30

Personally I really love some of the Dreamfarm products, the GreenPan gear and the Australian Women's Weekly cookbooks.

Disclaimer: I haven't gone through and checked every single product against all our competitors so even with 15% off we may not meet individual product sales elsewhere, so always check!

  • harvey loves his knives doesn't he, everytime I see him on aca he's talking about slashing knife prices. Only pun he can think of?

I'm sorry. One would think that with the buying power of HN they would be able to compete with the likes of Peters of Kensington. Unfortunately they are still much more expensive

Hi, can you give me some examples? We're in the business to be competitive

Edit: I'm having a look in there now, it looks like they've got something special going with some of their Scanpan range. Will update soon

Edit #2: Have looked through, as per the original post there are some products which are cheaper with their current sale, and some things which aren't. Will have some price discussions with the team and see what we can do

now that more in the Ozbargain spirit. :)

Can't edit it again, looks like there's some good competitive spirit from PoK as they've undercut our own undercutting, we've gone through and adjusted Wusthof and in the process of a few other ranges. The Scanpan is a different beast altogether, it seems as if they're selling unboxed product and packing it themselves. I think think it's called unsleeved? Anyway, if there's a particular product anybody is burning for a bargain on please let me know and I'll try to make it happen. Happy OzB'ing!

Pity they don't carry any of the Chef Choice higher end sharpeners such as the 120 and 130. The 220's a little meh for me.

    • I've thrown the idea to the buying team, I've personally got the 220 and it suits but I'm not a heavy knife user! Just the two main knives for me

      • Seeing your selling Global knives - how about sourcing some Global MinoSharp 3 Ceramic Water Sharpeners
        http://www.globalknives.com.au/products-mino-sharp
for around the A$55 mark :)

I'll readily admit that this is pretty unlikely (the way these are supplied might make it difficult) but I'll pass it on regardless!

        • I've got one of these - it's great.

        • +1

They're going to be ordered! As far as pricing is concerned I have no idea, but at least we'll be getting them in stock. We'll see if I can OzB it up when they come in

  • Personally, I wouldn't give Gerry Harvey my money. If only 50% of his and his stores Wikipedia page is accurate, I'd still be feeling ill.

While I love it when a company really takes notice of the OzBargain community, it warms a cold place in my heart. However, I've yet to see a stellar deal from Harvey Norman Big Buys and I don't believe this is it either.

Each to their own I guess? Thanks for your feedback, hope one day we crack "stellar deal" status :)

ARGH! So torn…Globals for $245.65 here or 7-piece Wursthof Grand Prix IIs from cutleryandmore.com for $235.91USD??

    • Have you handled the knives? My recommendation would be to get into a retail store and get a feel for them. They're both very good sets

  • +2

Go the globals if you are comparing with the Grand Prix I reckon. The base Wusthof for consideration should really be the Classics.

On that note, I think the Carving set is a pretty decent price. (Wusthof Classic)With the discount it is cheaper than cutlery and more or amazon and has free shipping. The cutlery and more one does come in a nice case I guess, but not worth the shipping or the $18 extra.
