Long term expirey for prepay user

Hey guys,

I need to get a mobile plan for my mum, she doesnt really make many calls at all or even receive calls, its only for emergency generally or when she is going interstate / car problems etc. So far i was using the optus plan which lasted for 6 months and cost about 30$ a pop every 6 months. I hear there are better plans that last a year or even have no expiry, so was curious about them?

So far i have come across savvytel and vodafone 365. vodafone lasts for 1 year and savvytel i hear has no expiry. But i have heard rumours you have to pay like 30$ just to get a sim from savvytel so the startup is pricey…?any recommendations please?

  • vodafone 365 -I have had this for years. I think $20 is the minimum credit and you get 365 days to use it….When you top up the amount is rolled over for another 365.

No, savvytel sim is free, the minimum starter is $5. I am with them and don't have any problem, though I hardly call at all.

  • Telstra Long life is $30 for 6 mos or $60 with 1 year expiry. If I was doing travelling to regional or remote areas I would not have any other network in my mobile.

  • Amaysim postpaid has no minimum, other than you have to have to generate at least one charge every 90 days. Four x 12c SMS = $0.48 a year, plus $2 for the sim.

  • My parents are happy with virgin prepaid long expiry. $15 lasts 180 days, $50 lasts 365. Call rates to other networks aren't good, so it depends on usage.
