Cubo AI Smart Baby Monitor

I have recently purchased this baby monitor and, as it's compatible with Google Home and Amazon Echo devices, I'd like to buy one of those to use as a permanent baby monitor screen.

I've seen lots of reports of people using them with other baby monitors and having lots of issues with the screen timing out, and therefore not being able to have a continuous live stream.

Has anyone done this with a Cubo AI and had success?

Thanks!

Are you not concerned about the remote unauthorised access of these monitors?

I didn't get an internet-connected monitor for the concern of authorised access.

    • No I'm not

    • they're CTIA Cybersecurity Certified plus they use stronger encryption than most others (AES-256 bit vs 128 bit) TLS/SSL

You know what's more secure? My DECT monitor that is inaccessible from the Internet.

And all the certification in the world won't matter if your Google/Amazon account is breached and has access (which is probably the more likely attack vector, with or without that certification)

If I wanted a camera I could pull up on a Google/Amazon/phone, I'd just get a wired/wireless camera, completely block it from the internet and view the feed via RTSP.

        • Couldn't agree more!

      • Okay, cool, that doesn't mean that it cannot happen at all!

I have security cameras set up outside my house and have a full network controlled firewall to block ports and external access, but I still see countries being blocked from trying to access my network within my firewall log.

That doesn't mean no one will try and be successful!

It's the ones I don't see blocked that worry me…

          • @Chandler: Exactly! I have blocked all inbound traffic to my network, so I feel safe and comfortable. Its amazing what you see in the log. I've only had it implemented for 4 months and I wish I had done it sooner!

            • @geekcohen: Who's gear are you using? I've got Ubiquiti at the moment (just a USG & UAP).

              • @Chandler: Sophos SG135W. It was used when work has a dedicated office, now we don't and it was sitting idle in my garage. So converted it to a home license on the device and it is brilliant. I use the WiFi in as well.

Love the features and data I can see within the portal.

                Ubiquiti is becoming pretty popular.

I'd be more concerned about the unauthorised access myself :P

    Ummm… What about the baby's privacy ???

Good point - I'll ask the baby for it's consent first
