What Is Your nbn Actual Speedtest Result?

What is your actual speedtest result?
I am using 250/25, but my phone can only reach speed averaging 40-70mbps.
If I used laptop, I can reach 240mbps.
I mainly download only from phone.

It is kinda a waste to upgrade to higher plan if your phone can't support it.

Update: my laptop is using wifi as well, and can reach almost 250mbps.

  • 930/48 on 1000/50 using the speed test on my UMDP. On HFC. Superloop.

  • 100/20 FTTN with ABB. Less than 40m to the node.

Get 105-111/17-19 at all times - even peak evening.

Tested using speed test function in Orbi app.

Very happy with my NBN set up.

  • 1000/50 FTTP on ABB.
On my PC with 5ghz ac wifi 837/47
    S20 FE 630/46

  • 1000/50 HFC with ABB

  • I’m not on NBN but I get pretty good consistent speeds on 5G : 500/60. I’m in a bit of an odd situation where I don’t have NBN and the alternative is not suitable for my needs because of the silverly crippled 5Mbps upload cap, which is why I’m forced to use 5G. But I think I’ll be ok with a 100/40 connection, although if I had the chance I would probably get a 1Gbps connection just for fun.

But having said that, I think 100Mbps is more than good enough for one person, and its probably adequate for a family of 4, because you can technically stream upto 4 UHD video streams which is probably the most demanding use case for an average household.

Getting back to your original question, if your primary device can’t receive the full speed of your internet connection then there is little sense in paying more for a faster connection. But these days WiFi can deliver gigabit speeds with the right equipment, and 250Mbps should be easily achievable even with modest hardware. I get between 200 to 450Mbps over WiFi throughout the house with my 3-year-old AC mesh system, and my primary notebook and phone (~2 years old) can hit 400Mbps quite easily in main living spaces, so at least for now my internet speed is not severely bottlenecked by the WiFi, and I'm not using the latest and the greatest devices either.

  • +1

1012/55, Aussie Broadband. lots of services use the full speed, like anything from MS/Apple/Sony servers, also private torrent trackers can hit the full speed too. I've started downloading to an SSD just because it can seek faster for downloads.

  • 50/20 -> 48/18.
Sounds like the op's issue isn't with the NBN but with their older phone hardware

  • ABB with a 100/20 plan. I get 110/19 24/7. Pretty rare you get even more than what you pay for.. but I'm happy.

  • HFC 250/25, and I get 243/21 right now.

A large part of this is having the right equipment. You can spend ~$180 and kit out a full four bedroom house with max speeds with just an entry level mesh system.
