Rimac C2 Breaks Production Car Records

Sub 9 second quarter mile….with a passenger & not on a drag strip
Should do under 8.8 on drag strip at 250+km

https://youtu.be/HZVd7Oo2KHg

And here is Mate Rimac doing multiple runs with 8.94 best - not full power, non-drag strip, non-drag street legal tyres, passenger, etc

I wonder how many years before production EVs are doing sub 8s. Possibly soon with the Tesla Roadster (SpaceX pack)

For anyone who is thinking "WTF is a Rimac CTwo??" It's this

What production car record does it break? Considering it's not really a "production car", more like a vapour-ware car at the moment.

And for the price of the thing, it would want to go that fast… (about US$2million)

Comparing electric to electric; (And for the record, it did 2.4s 0-60mph in the video.)
A Porsche Taycan Turbo S does it in about 2.6s. Most notably, the Porsche does it for about 1/10th the cost (about US$185,000 and is available now.)

Comparing it to anything else; (that is/was actually a production car)
Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was a 2.1 second 0-60-mph car (with full Dodge options)
Current Porsche 911 Turbo S is a 2.2 second car.
Tesla Model S P100D is a 2.3 second car (with the correct mode.)

And where do I buy an actual C_Two? Last I heard they were still in the pre-production/development stage and only taking build slot deposits. How many people have actually taken delivery of their C_Two?

Unlike the Porsche that I can go down to my local Porsche dealer and actually order one that will be delivered… Or I can go online and order a Tesla Model S from their website and that will get delivered.

For the price of the C_Two, I could buy a Taycan AND a Model S (that are both real production cars) and still have enough left over for more Taycans and Model S’s…

While the Rimac is a nice looking car that should go hard, but just as much fun or maybe even more fun could be had for far less money and can be had right now instead of going on some “geez, I hope they build this car one day” list…

Further news in, the difference between 2021 & 2018 is 3 (years)

            @brendanm: Lol… well, aren’t they a delightful individual…

          • @brendanm: On simple maths? Sure are.

@Boogerman: So, feel free to prove pegaxs wrong, where can I go and test drive or buy one of these vehicles? Oh, I can't, as they aren't actually available. They haven't even started making them.

As he said, it is still a concept car, until they actually produce this production car.

              • @brendanm: LOL. Yeah it’s just like wandering down to your local Holden dealership…
The salty tears of Falcodore fanbois. Soon they’ll be telling EV owners that they own a real Aussie car like a Mustang or Camaro….

                  Nice one mate 🙄

A whole lot of future tense in that wiki article.

@brendanm: But it breaks “all the pRoDuCtiOn cAr ReCoRdZ!!!1!1!”

Not bad for a car you can’t even buy, yet.

I have a car I’m building. It will go from 0 to 60 in 1.1 seconds, do the standing 1/4 in a little under 2.5 seconds. It will be a 7 seater family saloon and have 4,000hp and 12,000nm of torque and will only need Charing once a year when you take it for a service (where all they do is charge it because lol-oil). It will be $1 less than the LCT and I just need. $1,500 deposit to secure a build slot.

I thought, since we are just making up imaginary cars, thought I would pitch in.

          • @brendanm: Wow
            .

                  • @Boogerman: Nice doubling down.

                    • @brendanm: Maybe you can phone it in to Alan Jones at DHeads After Dark on Sky News
Tell him how ‘horrified I am as a patriotic Australian’!

                      • @Boogerman: Nah, I'll just screenshot it and post it here with the other one so people can see how you are.

                        • @brendanm: Go you good thing!
                          You do your patriotic duty!
                          Anything less is, well, unaustralian!

  • So now it’s OzDriveLikeAF*ckwit.

    • Can’t be a hard car to track down doing illegal shit considering they are still in development and they would all be owned by the manufacturer…

  • Further times been uploaded by Mate, trolling that it is a ‘Toyota Camry’!!
