Omo Ultimate 5kg on special for the first time in >1year. Cheaper than any other special I have seen on this top notch powder.

This Choice favourite changed the game when I started using it - no more yellow deodorant stains, haven't had to pre-wash, whites come out whiter than ever before.

Treat yourself and start using this one, it's several notches above the rest!

    Such an attractive deal

    No OMO.

    • Must be why its on special, cant get it anywhere haha

  • +5

Quick, buy it! The fOMO is real.

  • Damn none in Sydney…

  • The nearest store where it's available is at:
    —> BIG W - Newcastle West (NSW 2302)

  • Only a couple of stores in Perth with stock as well and they are low.

  • The liquid one is on sale everywhere

    • +1

Powder trumps liquid in all the tests by a fair margin, but if you prefer it for some reason go nuts.

      • +4

        Sometimes the power leaves residue

      • Really? In what ways is it better? The powders we try leave residue on the clothes even if diluted first.

        • You might need an extra rinse cycle

          • @thedriver: Either that or doing quick wash which won't give the machine enough time to dissolve.

            • @placard: hmm, this may be it. but that means the quick wash cycle is pretty much useless, which is aggravating.

              • +2

@kiitos: Well I never then unless in a super rush. It is really just for emergencies not every wash. I normally use the daily wash type cycle which takes just over an hour.

This cycle spins after the wash to remove as much soap before rinse, then also spins between each rinse. Quick wash doesn't do this so would also not extract add much soap I feel.

I love using the delay start on mine so it's finished right when I need to hang it out so the duration doesn't bother me.

        • In all of the ways they test powders.

          https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/laundry-and-cleani…

          Stain removal such as:
          -Mud
          -Blood
          -Grass
          -Food/fats

Smell removal isn't tested due to perfumes/subjectivity.

Omo Ultimate Powder used to be made in Australia, the new version is made in Vietnam . Not sure about washing performance, but as usually product get outsourced overseas and price increases or remains the same.

      Clothing smells bad now

  • Managed to snag one from Big W South Yarra

  • +4

Performance has dropped in the latest choice results, now 73% overall. The brand's own liquids now outperform their powders and the top overall is Dynamo liquid. First time ever a liquid is top performer.

    • +1
    • Interesting!

The performance differences used to be due to enzyme concentrations between powder/liquid and solubility.

I guess they've finally worked it out.

It depends on the washing machine, That is true for front loaders, but for top loaders the 2 best are still Omo Ultimate and the Aldi brand

Dynamo Professional 7 Actions in 1 Wash (82%)

  • Not looking good for around Melbourne.

    • Big W South Yarra had about 20 an hour ago. The price tags on the shelves were still showing $30 or so. Maybe that’s why they weren’t flying or the shelves.

FARK! No stock in QLD. I got massive FOMO after reading the OPs post.. Like I'm some type of beta chump for using Aldi laundry detergent!

    • FOMO For OMO? giggity giggity

    Come on Amazon!

  • No stock :( in Brisbane

I bought Omo for years then tried Aldi 2kg for less than $5 and did not notice difference

    • I agree. Trimat is rated just as good if not slightly better than omo. I used to use Omo but just buy Trimat now. They do the 5kg boxes for $16 twice a year. Otherwise 1.5kg sold all year round.

Just like how I used to use morning fresh but now switched to tandil power soak and clean. Does a great job!

      • After Trimat I have tried Almat and no complaints.

        • Almaty is okay, it rates a little bit less in the choice results, but still reasonable.

    • Aldi liquid Trimat is very, very good, one of the best your money can buy….

      • Good to know. I've always had good results from powder so not changed.

  • This on reviews say it’s not good for front loaders leaves a lot of suds and they had to stop using it.

    • +1

Just use less, works fine for me for the last 6 years

      • Use less how much is less, have you a front loader?
It seems they made front loader and top loader of this and now it's just the one and so many complaints that its bad for there machine.

With a machine costing over $1000 does not sound like a good idea to me on this brand.

  • Does anyone know if this is better than Fab?

    • +2

Using dirt from the garden is better than fab. Fab is the worst.

    • Yeah fab and spree etc are useless. Better to buy Trimat from ALDI for a bit extra. Well clean so much better

    • wow I had no idea. I thought fab was a good brand

    • 10 times better.

  • +1

    No stock anywhere.

  • Has anyone tried a rain-check at this price?

  • BIG W Bunbury has stock

Still many of these at my local Aldi - others could be the same.

Rated better than Omo and slightly cheaper!
