  • Can confirm Straya inherited roundabout designs from 🇬🇧

  • Everyone has right of way. Part Destruction Derby, part Carmageddon

That’s the bus from burnout https://burnout.fandom.com/wiki/City_Bus

Yes, It’s about how many vehicles can be totalled. 😆

    • My flatmate in the UK grew up in Swindon and took me through here a few times. He barely slowed down each time so I think you nailed it.

Nope. There's give way markings on the road…

Oh my god i have been to this roundabout. It was crazy.

    please dont drive.

  • This gave me nightmares.
Being stuck on this, with no way of knowing how to get out.

Loved that roundabout - trick is to see it as a series of roundabouts that you're entering and leaving. Bus is leaving a mini so has to give way to traffic from right.

  • +4

Nope, because there is no part of the road rules that gives anyone “right of way”…

Exactly. Also I think MS Paint has a crush on you.

      • +2

Not a crush. Just RRR. Road Rules Respect.

      That's included as a trigger

    • So, you've read the UK road rules, have you?

      • Nope, but I am happy for you to point me to a relevant link for their road rules, in particular "round-abouts", where it says "this driver has right of way"

I'll give you a head start, here is a copy of the UK Highway code… (Round-abouts starts at about 184…)

At a roundabout, if you don't give way (or whatever you wish to call it) to traffic from the right and get totalled side-on you will be at fault as well as being badly hurt.

        This is not entirely correct. The wording of Australian Road Rules in relation to round-abouts says;

114 Giving way when entering or driving in a roundabout
        (1) A driver entering a roundabout must give way to—
        (a) any vehicle in the roundabout

So, if you are already in the round-about and the other driver enters the round-about and you get "totalled side-on" then the other driver has failed to give way to you on the round about. They are at fault.
If the other car is already in the round-about and you enter the round-about without giving way to them, you are at fault.

Neither car has "right of way". The at fault car had the "obligation to give way…" (hence why the legislation is full of "give way this" or "give way that" and not "right of way this/that") And note, there is no "give way to the right" rule with regards to round-abouts either…

if you don't give way (or whatever you wish to call it)

I call it, weirdly enough… "give way"

I think you're being pedantic, mate. My sentence was correct and pithy. Any vehicle in the roundabout you are concerned with is to your right if you are driving properly: clockwise. Naturally, an idiot driving counter-clockwise you would avoid. That reminds me of what office colleagues told me about the Swindon roundabout: aim your car at your exit and ignore the numerous roundabouts. They assured me the locals were used to visitors getting freaked out by it and know when to stop and wait, irrespective of who has to give way.

Good to see we both like to give way.:)

  • It’s approaching a give way line.

  • No MS Paint diagram?

That depends whether the bus is travelling forwards or backwards - I can barely tell which is the front and which is the back 🤣

  • I love how Americans have an aneurism over a normal roundabout. Can't even begin to imagine what they'd do on this badboy.

    WTF did I just saw

    • Bad English?
