Savable Browser Extension Has Malware?

I've been using the Savable extension for a number of years from this fellow ozbargainer:

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/384307

Just this week it has been disabled in Edge & Chrome for being infected with malware.

Savable - Easy Cashback from Online Shopping

This extension has been disabled because it's been marked unsafe by the Chrome Web Store.

Does anyone know the story behind it? foxgaocn?

I wouldn't trust it now. Even before it tracked every site you visited.

Yes, the data became a bit stale and unfortunately I don't have time to maintain it anymore.

Guess his abandoned Google account got compromised and the extension infected…. or he just sold the extension account to a third party malware company for a quick payout?

Oh well, thanks for the link. Will remove the extension.

      • Selling out is very common these days. I would not be surprised.

  • Hi all,

Sorry I only noticed this thread just now.

I've shutdown the backend of the plugin more than 1 year ago (due to the heavy workload to keep the data up to the date) and the plugin should have never appeared to anyone after that.

Not sure why it is detected as malware, but I didn't keep any data and didn't sell any data/app to others.

Just checked my email and google notified to me that the plugin was removed from chrome store because I didn't update it.

Please remove the plugin to avoid any confusions.

    Thanks.
