Fuse Taps for Dashcam (Viofo A119 V3)

Hi All,

Can anyone please enlighten me what fuse taps I need to buy? The HK3 doesn't come with any instructions at all and it doesn;t come with the fuse taps as compared to what I've seen from the videos.

Thanks!

It depends entirely on which fuses your car uses. There are 3 main types, blade, mini blade and micro blade.

You need to share more details on your car model and year for others to google on your behalf.

    • I apologise, I didn't even know there were different blades. Here I was just wondering about what fuse needs to be included with those taps. I'll check further. My car is a Skoda Kamiq MY21

      • Just pull one out for say, the cigarette lighter or accessory power socket and compare it to the ones on this page.

Go to you local automotive shop and ask for fuse taps to suit *insert your fuse type here*… or take them the sample fuse and ask for a fuse tap to suit that fuse.

Looks to be a standard fuse. Getting a fuse tap like this would work.

Fuse box diagram can be found here.

Some users here have recommended using fuse 43 (rear wiper).

What’s harder to decipher is which fuses to tap.

This looks like it has all of the information you need

        (Edit: Beaten by trex)

        • I usually go through all the unpopulated fuses spots with a multimeter with ignition off and again with it on and see if one of those will work. If not I use one that I know I won't use much but it depends on the vehicle and how it's wired.

      • Youtube is your brest friend, search for fuse tapping. There are generic videos about which fuse to use, how to tape it correctly.

Then google / youtube your car model, so you know how to access your fuse safely, in some cars, there are two fuse boxes.

Then buy a fuse tape from aliexpress, make sure to order more than one.

        • yeah, I'll set up proper time on Friday and Saturday to install this thing. Thanks everyone

FYI, I'm currently having problems with my A119 V3 with the HK3 kit which was professionally installed.
The unit beeps loudly while I am driving and stops recording.
The micro SD card has been eliminated as the cause of the problem.
The Viofo techs want me to test it with the original cigarette lighter cable or a portable power source.

    • I'm using a viofo A129 Duo 4k with an OBDII power source, first few days Great! I now am getting the same error it will stop recording and flash (I turned off the god awful sounds) On some forums they suggest to lower the bitrate and change to time lapse, I've yet to test but would be keen on your results.

    • Had the same issue and found out it was the power source. The ones provided aren't that reliable.

      • Hard wired kit or cigarette lighter socket?

    • I've had issues with a firmware update back in the middle of last year causing problems like that. Reverted to earlier firmware (v1.03) and no problems since.

    • Are they (VIOFO) hard to communicate with?

      • I've found the support from viofo.com in China prompt and helpful. The local support from Viofo Australia is woeful.
