Still Waiting on Refund for Garuda Flights to Bali

Has anyone received a refund for flights with Garuda?

I booked flights to Bali in December 2019 through BYOjet (owned by Flight Centre). Flights were meant to be September 2020 but of course COVID hit & all travel ceased. I requested a refund July 2020 & I’m still waiting. Apparently the hold up is with Garuda. I understand how much extra work this has created for the travel industry as a whole but should it really take this long? I can’t help thinking Garuda are holding on to everyone’s money as long as possible to earn more interest for themselves?

Can I ask why you waited 10 months to request a refund?

    • They must of meant September 2020.

      • Yes. Should be 2020. Thanks (now edited)

'Garuda Flights to Bali' There's your mistake.

    • Once upon a time it was them or Qantas, they were ok back then.

Paid by CC? Ask for a chargeback.

    • Hmm… was thinking that. I also had travel insurance which I could claim from but really didn’t think it would take so long. That’s why I asked if anyone else had received a refund to give me an idea of how much longer I’m going to have to wait.

  • Took just over 6 months to get a refund on 2 tickets with Qantas. Kept offering credits, extensions etc. Took several calls (lucky Aldi have unlimited times on yearly sims) some as long as 5 hours on hold and then dropping out.
