The first post icon (1 next to the posters name) is great, but what I would like is a warning when the poster is posting their first post (that they can see) that will remind them that everyone will know that it is their first post and that they don't need to mention it.

To be honest, it's only really a thing because people react to it and make it a thing. If everyone just ignored it, no one would care and it would probably go away. But yes, the Wiki guideline saying not to do it won't have much of an impact as hardly anyone would look at the guidelines before their first post.
