Driving Instructors Keep Blocking My Driveway to Practice Parking

I live in two ways a very quiet street where generally a lot of street parking spot available. My street could be one of the streets that RMS use for accessing the driving test. So, 10 to 15 L driving instructors let their student practise parking across my driveway every day. It has become a nuisance when 3-5 times per instructor blocking my access across my driveway. I have talked to several instructors to practise where there are empty spots, but they think they have right to park there and nothing wrong. Often, I bumped into them when I try to access my own driveway while they are practising parking. I also have talked to the council and local police but they both gave excuse that they can’t do anything unless they catch on the act. I know it is bull and lazy excuse, but I can’t get them to action. I am losing battle dealing with dense driving instructors who think 2 to 5 mins blocking is fine despite I am being annoyed when 50 times a day by multiple instructors constantly in and out.

Please suggest legal way what I can do and what are my options.

Edit: some may think I am exaggerating. here are some photos

Within an hour two cars practise across my driveway and I drove out third one. 4 and 5 saw me talking so they kept going

Thanks to those who provided suggestions. I will try some of the methods to drive the pests away.**

  • Interesting.

    1. It's on the route
    2. They use that car to park behind to practice
    3. They won't get gutter rash by stuffing up

For my driver's test the instructor asked me to park in a driveway and said "pretend there isn't a driveway there" 🤔

  • Some councils will paint a line on the road outside your driveway, to stop people parking there.

They done that for mine, but doesn't stop people idling there.

Note the company and leave 1-star google reviews - make sure to tell them if they stop you will delete it.

When choosing driving instructors I'd say most people just use Google so you have a lot of influence.

Make it a solid review too, so it goes to the top when Google automatically sorts it by 'relevance'.

  • I'd just be bloody minded and park my own car there.

You will get booked, even at your own drive way.

  • When you say "block" the driveway, are they actually blocking you from using it? As in you're trying to access your driveway to either arrive or leave your home but you can't? If they're just practicing parking but not actually impeding the use of your driveway when you need it, what's the problem? It's not like they're parking and leaving the car there unattended, right?

  • I'd see if I could put a couple of mirrors around that makes it very distracting for someone looking back and attempting to park across the driveway - but not enough to inconvenience a normal road user. If anyone comes up to you to ask you to take them away you can ask them what for and tell them to bugger off.

An obscenely bright spotlight over the driveway entrance may also do the trick.

  • Seriously get a mate to park a caravan or boat out the front for a few months.

    • Cool haven't you noticed all the paranoid people locking/blocking those boats/caravans in thinking people are going to steal them .

Your suggestion is to offer the candy lol .

    Calm down Karen.

  • I would honestly be very annoyed with how often this is occurring. Personally I'd park my car on the other side of my driveway behind the neighbors car until the instructors form a new habit elsewhere

Leave your bins out one side and car on the other?

Are you the driving instructor parking in OP driveway?

Get a job then you wont be home curtain twitching

OP sounds like they wear a tinfoil hat everywhere to block out the government

  • Road cones across driveway. Annoying for you. But legal deterrent. What’s worse people using your driveway or having to move road cones when you want to park. Only you can decide OP.

Hopefully after couple weeks deterrent will be enough and driving instructors will get the idea you don’t want your driveway used and will find another spot.

  • Get a hose connected to a tap with an IOT tap controller and position so it drenches the parking spot.
Add motion detector or camera pointing at the parking spot. Enable tap to turn on when it detects the car moving into the area.
Throw in a bluetooth speaker with a recorded message as well.
Watch from the comfort of your house.
