Popular Active Deals

Here's a suggestion from me:

We have a Popular Deals section which lists the most popular deals in the last 7, 14, 30 & 90 days. The problem with those views is most of the old deals are expired or out of stock, etc., so if I wanted to see the most popular deals in say, the last 30 days which are active, I need to wade through the set of expired deals in the last 7, 14 and 30 days.

What would be good to have is a view of the most popular deals which are still active. This would be a good gap to fill.

Just so that I am clear why I believe this is a gap:

Popular Deals section includes a lot of expired deals

Home page includes top deals above a certain count of votes ordered by time (not votes)

Deals Expiring soon lists the deals ordered by expiry date and then votes (i.e. all deals expiring in the next day are displayed first from most popular to least popular and then all deals expiring in two day's time again from most popular to least popular)

  • Good idea, maybe a checkbox with active deals?

    • Yes, that would be ideal if the filter of active deals is applied first and then the top 10 or so deals shown, rather than filtering the top 10 or so deals and then showing only the active ones.

  • Just added in an option (like what neil suggested) on the Popular Deals page. Clicking on "Hide expired deals" checkbox on the sidebar will then remove the entries that are already expired.

    • Excellent, works like a charm. Thanks.

  • Scotty… I usually view the last few days worth of popular deals, say:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/popular?days=2

And it's not working anymore!! It shows the default 30 days rather than 2 days as requested.
I understand this was never a feature, but the url worked until a few hours ago.

Did you intentionally disable this, or was this a side effect of your change above? Could you have a look please?

    Thanks!

      Should be fixed now.

      • yep, all good now, thanks scotty for the quick responce!
