and FYI, warm white GU10 only $10 at Ikea, Hue compatible, except for Homekit integration.

    • Do the ikea ones just show up in the hue app?

      • you need to "reset" them and make them discoverable by the hue bridge. There's videos on youtube how to go about it but basically you power cycle it 6 times until it flashes to tell you its in discovery mode.

Also you lose the ability to update their firmware along with some other functionality by using them with hue but all the basic functions such as on / off, changing the colour work fine.

If you have an Ikea switch, you can first pair that to the Hue bridge, then pair the switch to the bulbs in the usual way.
The bulbs will be discovered by Hue.

    • So went into Ikea. The two reviews for the $10 version weren't good - one complaining of a high pitched whine and the other about it not dimming. Now the not dimming issue could be user related, but the whine would be an issue with the driver built into the bulb. It could perhaps be the person had it plugged into a circuit with a dimmer but who knows. Early days but the more expensive version had much better reviews plus cover the white spectrum not just warm white so I got the 'kit' with three bulbs and a remote. Marked at $69, but $59 for Ikea Family members so not too bad. Just got home & hooked them into Deconz no issue.

For the lights, just plug light into socket then toggle the power six times. Do a search on Deconz and it appears. With the remote you need to pop off the back, insert the included battery (initially I assumed it came with a spare, but wasn't the case), then press the pair button five times then it also appeared.

The remote has a nice quality feel to it - I think I may prefer it to the more expensive Hue remote so I might even get some more!

      • I haven't tried the GU10 bulbs but the E27 "white spectrum" bulbs were just 3 different shades of white. I couldn't get anywhere near the same level of whites as my hue bulbs. In the end I returned it because it was the odd light out and I couldn't get the colour to match my existing bulbs.

  • $43.29 for the 2 pack without ambience

  • Do they have par38 floodlight globes in hue for australia? Cant seem to spot them.
