Why Do Almost Every Computer Parts Stores and/or Websites Look So Aged?

I thought for computer parts stores they would be more high-tech than having really old looking buildings and websites.

    Keeps their operating costs down.

Just like lots of computer parts shops don’t renovate after it first opened.

It cost $$$$ to keep it looking “modern”.

Msy still has their pdf :)

It also acts as a newb filter for MSY. If you can’t get through their website/parts.pdf, then you’re probably not a customer they want ie. they don’t want to actually have to give you proper customer service and help you select the right parts, etc. They want customers who know what they want, ask exactly for that part, pay for it and then leave

        Ditto.

There is a strong correlation between the pricing of a computer part store and how it looks :). Usually the higher price (rrp) look more “modern”.

        • GameDude is a great example. I think it's changed once in 20 years.

The type of people that buy PC components don’t care how a website looks. They just want the best prices, so the seller cuts cost where it makes sense.

  • At some point, "old" looks classic lol. Like MSY

    • Works well with Netscape.

    • finally, they have updated it

    It's an unwritten Law.

  • Because they work.

JB Hifi, Bunnings and Super Cheap all displaced massive dominant businesses by designing their stores and media to look like they are always on sale.

  • I guess because nothing says competitive pricing and well trained and knowledgeable staff than wasting money on flashy buildings and websites. For my money, I prefer the 'substance' approach than the 'flash' approach.

  • PLE looks OK

  • They are lazy.
