Looking to buy top end fridge freezer

Hi

I'm looking for a new fridge freezer and would be interested in people's views. I'll be redesigning our kitchen so size is not a concern. I'm after a large fridge capacity at least over 500l and no too concerned about freezer size as I already have a separate standalone.

Main criteria would be excellent build quality, actually works well as a fridge, good ice maker. Having a section that can swap to fridge or freezer would be useful. I do like the samsung hub but I am concerned about reviews complaining of build quality. Hitachi and Mitsubishi come with long warranties and the Hitachi has a unique vacumm compartment view.

Thanks

    • Thanks. Have you got one of their fridges?

I’ve not heard of them but will have a look. What are their top three selling points?

      Thanks again!

I do not own any of their appliances. Out of my budget

        TOP 3 SELLING POINTS

        • air purification system inspired by NASA technology scrubs the air of ethylene gas, bacteria, mould and viruses
        • a magnetic door seal system locks in cold
        • an advanced microprocessor provides pinpoint climate control
        • I'm pretty sure most fridges these days have the second and third selling point but don't actually sell it.

          • @afoveht: But do they charge an extra $20k for the privilege?

We have this Mitsubishi and can't rate it highly enough.

Comes in silver, white and black to match your decor.

    • Does the ice cube function work well?

It makes perfect ice cubes, we have never had an issue. I am sure you have noticed it is not a plumbed fridge/freezer, so you have to fill the removable water tank. It's really easy to do, it all comes apart nicely for cleaning and you don't lose any door space. We use Brita filtered water, though tap would be fine if you don't mind the taste.

We shied away from a plumbed model because the cost and effort of getting a plumber to dig into the slab, lay a pipe, put in a tap and retile, seemed prohibitively expensive and somewhat unnecessary.

Go check it out at Winning Appliances in Kingston then shop around for the best price. They have a full range of Mitsubishi fridge/freezers that you can check out.

I rate the Mitsubishi so much higher than our smaller Fisher & Paykel fridge/freezer, which is now used as a bar fridge. With that said despite having a defrost element replaced (under warranty) the F&P has survived 3 house moves (though dented) and served us well for 10 years now.

I have this Mitsubishi fridge and it’s far the best fridge ever. The ice cube works fantastic. Plenty space for a big family.

  • Just wondering if it’s better to get a commercial fridge? Surely these things should be very good quality.

    • If noise and power consumption are not a factor, then yes

      • Ah good points
