Has Anyone Used or Purchased Xcover Insurance? (through eBay)

Hi All,

Recently bought a new iPhone 12 on eBay(waiting for Auspost to deliver it), and got an email from eBay AU about whether I would purchase Xcover Insurance for the Phone. The listing it linked me was https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/193719082160 - $178.20
[At the time of posting this]

Has anyone on OzBargain purchased Xcover before? If so how did it go with making a claim if you needed to?

TIA

Get Apple care instead, as more known

Don't get any insurance, buy a shockproof case instead

While not the same, apple care + is $199 for an iPhone 12. Might prefer that.

    • hmmm is there a way to pay it off monthly? Never used Apple care before as usually went through Telstra/Vodafone Insurance.

Apple are pretty good with their cover. It's a big risk without it on a device that expensive

Get Apple care instead, as better coverage

  • The excess is 25% of the cover for the xcover. Only really useful in that case for theft or destruction, not things like screen cracks.
What insurance cover protection do you want?
Do you have a home insurance policy or Amex card that might already offer some coverage?

    • Any theft or Accidental damage - I've mistakenly left my phone on the top of my car 5-7 times over the past 2-3 years.
Left a iPhone 7 at a maccas, definitely didn't get that back.

The shockproof case I had on it saved the iPhone 8 for the majority of times. I didn't have to claim with vodafone
Insurance because all I'd need was a new case.but then I stuffed up recently and left it on top of the car again
when it was off the insurance as I had ported to Felix 2 months prior. Found it on the road after the roundabout
and it looked like a car ran over it.

I'm renting at the moment and don't have AMEX. Looks like Apple Care would be better for my situation.

You probably shouldn't own expensive phones then. Spend $200 on a phone instead of the same amount on insurance.

Too late for that. I do have a cheap android phone I use for emergencies only. Not interested in going to Android.
