Juddering on PS5 with Hisense 75Q8

I have an issue with my Hisense 75Q8 tv when panning the camera within games. The image judderd when the TV is in ‘game mode’.

If I turn off game mode and turn on the motion smoothing, it’s as smooth as butter. But this adds way too much latency, so isn’t viable.

Anyone have this issue and know how to fix? Or is this TV just useless for gaming?

I have tried almost every ‘fix’ I have seen, including the following:
- turning off HDCP in PS5 settings
- Setting hdmi to enhanced mode on Tv
- Set 4k bandwidth to ‘-1’ or ‘-2’ on PS5
- Different hdmi ports
- Different monitor for Ps5 and it works fine, so it’s not the PS5’s fault

Anyone experience this issue? It’s like a juddering as you move in-game.

It’s a similar issue watching movies etc without motion smoothing on. But the PS5 games are running at 60fps so should be smoother.

Thanks in advance!

  • Probably the wrong TV for what you want; a TV with HDMI v2.1 would have been a better bet

Only if they wanted to play 120Hz. You do not need HDMI 2.1 for anything lower including 4K60 or 1080p120.

      I thought hdmi2 was fine for 4k 60hz? I don’t care so much for 120hz, 60 should be fine

I would have got one but all were full price for old models. Wish I had just got a proper brand now.

  • Flick between the HDR modes. One of them on my Hisense does add a bit of lag, I think it assumes you are watching a video rather than interacting with a game.

I tried all of the HDR modes, Gaming mode, different smooth settings etc. Literally every option I could think of. Nothing seems to help.

Really regretting getting this TV now. It’s great for movies, but terrible for gaming.

      Thanks for the advice though

  • Is the game stuttering or juddering. They are both totally different issues.

    • Hmm good question, might be judder on reflection. I tried to capture it on a video, but it’s hard to see on a recording that’s downsampled when uploading to vimeo/youtube.
