Whirlpool Induction Cooktop Locked in Demo Mode

Hi,

I've bought one of them Whirlpool 4 zone induction cooktop that were popular around these parts in 2019-2020, and was happy with it so far (only started using it a few months ago when house build was completed).

Yesterday it stopped working displaying the letters 'd' (on the leftmost hob) and 'E' (on the rightmost hob). Googling it I've found out that it probably means it's in Demo Mode, but looking at the instructions there is no mention of it. Googling more I could find instructions for getting out of Demo Mode for other models but not for that specific model.

Tried to contact the service center but they keep disconnecting me after a long wait and now the center is closed again :-( Called TGG store where I got it from and was told they will call me back.

It's a slim chance, but if anyone here happens to know how to get this thing out of demo mode that would be SUPER as we could go back to cooking on it (instead of our camping stove)!

Cheers!

  • Found for different model (Whirlpool s2560) here, page 6 but could work for your model?

    DEMO MODE
To switch the demo mode on and off:

    Connect the hob to the power supply;

Within the first minute, press the quick heating button “P“ of the
bottom left keypad for 5 seconds (as shown below).

    • Thanks! I've already tried that (similar to something else I found online) but will try that again.

      • Good luck. Note to do it within first minute of powering it on.

      • Also when they say powering on, They mean mains power, not pressing the on/off button.

So flick the breaker/disconnect switch OFF. Wait a few minutes. Then turn it on and then try try pressing the P

        • Yep that's what I've tried.

Love it how your comment was marked as 'off topic'. Dare anyone say the WP word around here!

Amazingly enough someone on the "dark side" had the answer!! Thanks!!

  • Do you have a picture you can share? You can upload to imgur if needed

  • This site has an alternative mode of entering / exiting demo mode:

    Demo Mode
This hob is equipped with a demo mode which allows you to interact with the control panel without activating the corresponding cooking zones. The activation and deactivation procedure must be carried out within 60 seconds of the appliance being connected to the power supply in the home.

To activate the demo mode, hold the two external cooking zone selection buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds: “dE” appears on the central display. You can now explore the control panel functions. The Lock and Unlock function is active also in Demo Mode.

To deactivate Demo mode, repeat the procedure, remembering first of all to disconnect the hob from the mains and then reconnect it, carrying out the procedure within 60 seconds of connection

    • Yeah I saw that, but couldn't really translate it to my model (you can see what the control looks like here: https://imgur.com/a/g7ADa26)

      • If yours turns out to be a dud and they send you a new one under warranty, can you send me a PM. My partner brushed past a bottle of wine when cooking and the thing cracked in half! (so keep all cooking oil / wine bottles well away from it). Such a small impact to cause so much damage!

Look reasonably easy to replace the glass, but it costs double what we paid fo the whole unit.

        • It's working again but will keep it mind if anything else happens.
