BlackVue dashcam Installer recommendations - Melbourne

After a 6 month wait, the car I ordered in Nov '20 is finally here. I'll most probably pick up the car next week WE 14/05.
I have declined all dealer extras and will get a dashcam installed (hardwired) outside of the dealership. I have never been offered a Scratch and Dent Assist extras on my previous car purchases and am wondering if these are of any value?
The dealership is offering a 2-channel BlackVue dashcam (installed) with a 5 year warranty for $1,690.00. They are yet to confirm the model of the dashcam they install. Parking battery which I assume is the Power Magic is an extra $495.00

For those of you who are curious, the car is a MB GLC300. Dealer extras pricing here https://imgur.com/K3orWOX

I am considering purchasing the DR900X-2CH (hopefully there is a deal soon) and looking for a BlackVue installer in Melbourne.
Any recommendations for installers? A ballpark price would be helpful as well.

Update: Dealer is offering the BlackVue Gold Edition Pro Series 2K Camera 64GB memory $1695.00 including Power Magic
I refused the offer and was told that any electrical issues that arise from third-party camera installation will not be covered under car warranty (incl. reset of dashboard warnings).

Thank you.

    highly recommended

    • I'll give that a try. What was the cost like?

      • cant remember was 2yrs ago, but was very happy with the cost.

I can recommend Orlando. Search Get Installed on FB

    • Thanks mate. I have enquired.

    • oh wow! I made a booking with him a couple of years ago. I didn't get to go through with it because I had a sudden major health issue, but he was really understanding and sounded like such a nice bloke! I couldn't find his contact anymore after recovering so never got to meet him and ended up going to Autofidelity (who did a great job).

    • Use Orlando to do both my car and my wife's. Fantastic job, reasonably priced and a great guy to deal with.

cost me about $120 to do on airtasker, bloke installed my 2-channel 750 blackvue. About an hour job to run the wires and install the magic kit.
Have a look on airtasker and search, you will find a couple with good reviews.

    • Thank you. I'll look on airtasker

  • $900 for window tint. Talk about being reamed.

Leather treatment. WTF. The majority of MBs don't even have leather. Artico and MB Tex is where it's at.

    • Yeah, those prices are a joke. They did not persist selling it to me :D
Tint-a-car have quoted $200 for a ceramic film for the front two windows.
I am getting leather seats as a part of a package but I am more than happy to care for it myself.

      • Real leather upgrade or just quality vegan friendly leather?

        • Real leather. The Artico leather option was not bad at all tbh.

          • @Viper123: The quality of artico is awesome. It just grinds my gears when people bang on about their leather interior when they have no idea that it's plastic.

            Enjoy your new car 👍

            • @MS Paint: I agree on the quality of Artico. I wouldn't pay extra for real leather.
Hope I enjoy it given it's 6 months late and I had almost forgotten about it.

    check autofidelity.
they do have a few dash cam installation videos on their youtube channel.

    • Can confirm that these guys did a great job with mine.

When I had a japanese car, I didn't really mind if power was "tapped" from somewhere. But I've heard (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that with euro cars, doing that could trigger fault alerts because it could detect a drop in voltage if power was tapped from an existing circuit. So I wanted the install be done properly with a whole new circuit and didn't mind paying extra.

I just recently bought a dash cam and did the install myself. None of the cord can be seen and while I have experience in regards to audio, it was pretty straight forward. Would you consider doing it yourself?

    • Totally! That is an option. Guess I'll need to wait for the car to see what's feasible.

Did you wire it in to the fuse box?

      • +1

        No didn't wire to fusebox.

I did another way (it already has a fuse)

Yah those prices are expensive, even for a dealership, but what do you expect from MB…

Also, anything you add from the dealer will incur LCT (unless they're factoring it into those prices).

    • Never thought of that. You're right. Dealer extras on the invoice will attract LCT.

    • Are you still in the industry.

Can someone buy a car and it's accessories, but ask the accessories be invoiced on a separate transaction as to avoid the tax?

      • +1

        Tax dodging?

        No

    I think Autobarn have contacts

Gp vehicle accessories will do a supply and install for $600 front and back. Pro guys highly recommended

Ssv quoted me $250 for front only supply and install.

If you bring your own the GP Vehicle guys would probably charge you $200 to install front and back. Best to call them

    • Hi Zerofive, do you know what is supplied for the $600? I had look at their website but could see anything for that particular pricing.

  • Tony from https://audiovs.com.au/ has been doing it for decades. Dealerships use him too so cut out the dealerships margins. Did my car and friends cars cleanly and professionally, no issues with post sales support too.
