Nier Replicant’s remake came out yesterday and I’m enjoying it a lot, but so far I don’t regret having started the series with Automata. The stories are self-contained enough to work separately and Automata refines the gameplay and story presentation so much that it’s just a lot easier to get into. Without being aware of the kind of crazy stuff that’s coming later in the game it would have been easier to be put off by some of the more time-consuming or uneven elements in Replicant.
Starting with Replicant might have advantages as long as you’re certain you’ll finish it and continue to Automata regardless of some flaws along the way, though.
I'm the same, I started with Automata and I absolutely loved the game, making me get Replicant. I'm really enjoying it too but it's also making me appreciate how Automata played and is making me really want to replay that now when I've finished with Replicant.

Our point here is, feel free to start on Automata if you want.
You could even start on it and swap to Replicant midway if you felt like it. A 60-hour flashback to semi-related characters and events would maybe just enhance the mindbending plot complication?

as much as I'd like to play it chronologically, i think replicant wont be going on sale anytime soon!
Is Nier Automata less buggy on PS4 or Xbox?
I don’t know but I had no problems with bugs on PS4. As far as I know they only messed up the PC port.
Incidentally the version of Automata on Xbox Game Pass has apparently been updated to fix most of the PC issues, but last I heard that hadn’t applied those updates to the other PC releases.
(Xbox Game Pass For PC, that is.)

Hmm finding it really difficult to find Nier automata on PS 4 physical disc…. Are they no longer selling them physically on sale as much these days?
