No Cash out without Purchase at Some Woolies?

I've been getting the ING 50ยข rebate by withdrawing cash out (with no purchase) at Woolies. Today at Crows Nest the option was missing from the self service cash checkouts. A staff member told me that option had been removed and I needed to purchase something to get cash out. However I was able to do this at Chatswood Metro later.

Have others noticed this change in their Woolies? Is it just the Crows Nest store or the way of the future?

  • It was definitely a cash withdrawal self check out machine?

Of the 8 self checkouts at my local Woolies only 2 are cash withdrawal.

Haven't tried them out in a while though.

    • All the machines that accept cash that I have encountered have a Withdraw Cash button on the opening page. This was missing from the machine I tried today. The other cash machines were occupied so I assumed that the staff member was correct. Maybe I should have checked another machine.

I wonder if stores that don't get a lot of cash payments that have enacted this policy, or, it will be rolled out to all stores, and Chatswood hasn't received the software update yet.

"I assumed that the staff member was correct"

        never assume that

  • I know that Woolies have been doing an update on their machine's software the last couple of weeks and were having some issues.

Whether that caused the problem or not?

Probably too many people holding up the que getting multiple lots of $200 cash out.

    • You can get more than $200 out, I get $250 out sometimes.

$400 is the limit, it was $200 some years ago

No limit in SA at least as far as I am aware of

  • some of the self serve checks outs at my local allow card only no cash out, but the other ones still let me just get cash out.

  • What do you need that cash for, Citizen?
