  • What movement do they use?

    • It’s quartz.

It has Bulova's proprietary ultra-high frequency quartz movement. Chrono moves very smoothly - look it up. I have this watch and enjoy it very much if you dont mind the size. It's 45mm lug to lug. The story behind it is also very interesting - definitely worth reading if you are into watches.

      • 52mm according to Jody.

I've only tried one Bulova, however returned it as it felt insanely cheap. Could have just been that one model, not sure, possibly worth having a quick search.

I like all the precisionist ones.

  • Wow but quartz.

    • It's quartz, but calling it quartz doesn't really do justice to the coolness of their movement. It's no Grand Seiko Spring Drive (also another shitty quartz, eh) but in my opinion the Precisionist and their whole 262kHz quartz line are the picks of the bunch.

Their auto movements are mostly low tier Miyota and I would take their quartz every time.

  • lol. I bought this 5 hours ago and didn't know of the code.

I have contacted sales. Hopefully they will refund me the $70.

(I would hate to go to the bother of buying a second one and returning the first).

I seem to have got the watch for $429.

      Thanks Starbuy!

  • I'm waiting for the metal version to go on special!

This is a good price, second hand models go for more than this on ebay. This watch has a unique history, being unofficially taken on Apollo 15. It's very much a poor man's Omega Speedmaster moonwatch. The 96A225 is newer apparently, but doesn't come with the extra strap and is $499.

The 96A225 deletes the date window, is mirror polished (this is sand/bead blasted) and uses the period correct Bulova logo. I did also notice tha the crystal on the 225 is different, domed subtly vs the top hat crystal on this one.

I have been looking at this for too long but finally clicked buy with this deal.

+1 for a special code for Ozbargain.
Nice watch, shame I'm not in a position to buy this at the present.
