Good find, the E27 version also the same price

    470lumen is not bright enough.

    • +6

It states it is the equivalent of a 40W and could be fine for many environments. This is not a post about 'how bright a light globe is' but about the cost of a light globe

      • -5

I don't bother to get this, I have bought this IKEA one and it is too dark, better buy the one with 870lm for just a few dollar more rather than waste money for this. It was even $1 for 2 bulbs for the E27 one before so you don't need to teach me about bargain.

Your deal now is 3x more than what I got and you want to teach me about the cost of the light bulb.

Also you can get FREE LED replacement for your CFLs bulb so you don't even need to buy LEDs. The LED I got from it is 870lm+ and I have not even need to buy LED anymore.

You shouldn't be neg voting a product because it doesn't suit your needs. Lots of people may need a light like this, for a bedside lamp, small room, toilet etc. I don't neg vote it when Ford, Holden or Audi have a sale because I want to buy a VW or a Skoda!!

@PukeyLuke: I have clearly put the reason there, and in case you don't see it let me put it again for you.
            - The price for the bulb is NOT cheap considered other option and value you get for the product.

IKEA LED price is not cheap at all, have look on Bunnings and you can find a much better price for LED than IKEA.

@samehada: Demonstrate this rather than persisting in a circle jerk.

              Don't have a poor understanding of Color Temperature and it's actual effects on the perceived brightness of any light globe;

@Bold Eagle: you are being a jerk here, with the same Colour Temperature, 470lm is nowhere near 870lm so stop trolling.

                • +1

                  @samehada: Well I am actually presenting objective and substance based comments and you have actually bought up a very relevant point (although have not defined it) and that is;
'What is the difference between Lumens, Kelvins and Watts?'
                  https://www.earthled.com/blogs/led-lighting-faq-frequently-a…

I have bought some with horrendous 'Color Temperatures' for that specific environment and had to swap it over, for example '6500K Daylight' and tried to use that in the lounge room (irrespective of lumens) and it was horrendous and incredibly distracting from the TV. Whereas used in the kitchen around any food prep areas and it was fantastic.

Don't try and just focus on lumen alone as it is a failed argument and only a partial aspect of the potential outcomes. All factors need to be considered in whether a light globe is suitable for any specific environment!

                  • -1

@Bold Eagle: ok, let me put it in plain English short and simple. The brightness is low on this bulb and it is dark, wasted my money for buying and I can get a better product elsewhere.

Even for the price I got 50c/bulb not sure if I want to buy so for $1.50 surely not a bargain.

@samehada: You're not making a lot of sense, as you should be able to tell by the replies you are getting. CHOICE magazine did an independent test on light bulbs, IKEA had 2 bulbs listed, both were at the top of the list 1st and 2nd, and the 1st place IKEA LED bulb was in fact the cheapest on the test.
Ikea Ledare LED1337G15, CHOICE Expert Rating 84 %. So independent tests show that you're buying a quality globe.
As to your thoughts that an 870lm LED bulb is better than a 470lm bulb, so you do understand that the 470lm bulb is more likely to use less watts don't you?? We have 2 hallway lights, one of them we leave on all night as it only uses about 300lm and 3 watts, so it's a lot cheaper than an 870lm bulb. I don't think you have a good concept that not everyone wants what you want. That's why when you go to Bunnings not every bulb is 870lm!!

              • @PukeyLuke: right and your comment is making a lot of sense …LMAO… If you are so concern about the power use, you should have switch off the light instead of wasting power to turn left it on all night when sleeping. You can just turn it on when you need.

Good luck with your twisted sense… once again …LMAO…

    • Horses for courses. This can be used in a lamp or under a staircase or in a chandelier etc. You can't just say it isn't bright enough

      • -2

why don't you just use the one with proper brightness and you can also use it for other places as well rather limit yourself to this one with your limited use as per your example.

        • +1

Because people might not need that brightness, SIMPLE.. Its the same reason people purchase cars with more economical engines in the same model that might have a performance spec. Not need for more power and larger running costs if you are just putting around town.

  • Ikea Marsden Park has lots of stock the last time I was there.

    • -2

probably no one wants them because of the low brightness.

  • -2

Don't waste your money buying this, you can get proper brightness one from Bunning for $2.5 - $3 for LED with 870lm+ or just call one of the LED replacement company to change your non-LED bulbs for free.

    • Instead of just trolling provide some references and resources where this magic apparently happens

      Educate yourself: https://www.larsonelectronics.com/blog/2017/12/12/led-lighti…

      • I bought it and used it and this is based on the real experience not based on any article so I don't need you to educate me.

        • So subjective hearsay rather than objective substance?!?

    • +1

It depends on the area. For a powder room, 470lm is fine, saving a few watts than 870lm+. In some situations, even 100lm - 200lm is enough.

  • if u use this bulb for decoration purposes, it might be too bright…. for mood lighting, 100lm is good enough.
