Which New Small Car to Buy Which Is Manufactured in Japan? - (Budget $25K)

Hi,

I am looking to buy a new small car. Which Latest Small Car in Australia Can I Buy Is Manufactured in Japan?

Comments

  • We need more info. Use case? Budget? Year?

    • new car, under $25,000

      • FYI - No new Toyota automatic available under that price

  • Could import a near new Suzuki Swift Hybrid for 20k or Mazda 3 Hybrid for 25k?

Only ones I can think of that are actually from Japan factories.

Toyota/Lexus, Honda, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Suzuki, Nissan, Subaru…

Would help if you narrowed it down even just a little bit… Are we talking Suzuki Alto small or Toyota Corolla small? Are we talking Daihatsu Sirion price range or Lexus CT? Any features you need? Or is it just "want car, no hints, ONLY SUGGESTIONS!"

      Or Kei car as small.

    • Just picking the Nissan brand at random:

Juke - Australia's quota is made in UK
Qashqai - made in UK (maybe some in Russia but I doubt those are coming here)
Leaf - can't figure out which plant ships to Aus, made in USA, UK, and JP

So although OP could have been more helpful in providing tighter criteria, I think there's likely to be only a few Japan-made new cars available for sale in Australia. Sadly I don't know what they are nor how to find out (other than trawling wikipedia pages for each model).

      • Yeah, do they mean actually made in Japan, or just manufactured by a Japanese car company?

        • "Manufactured in Japan" sounds awfully like they want one that's constructed in Japan to me. But OP reads like a non-native speaker so there could be some misunderstanding.

Suzuki Alto. Basically new with 2000km on the clock (Compliance: October 2020).

    • +1

      Lol just looked it up

      47kw and 98nm… wowwwww

  • I'm pretty sure the info is readily available via Google. If you short-listed to your preferences, that would cut down your search.

    Why Japan?

    They aren't necessarily better anymore.

    • +2

It's reassuring that your car is not made of Chinesium.

    • Is that true? Consumer reports in the US says otherwise. 4 of the top 5 most reliable car manufacturers were Japanese.

      • All well and good but all the cars mentioned in that article are >$25k (ops budget)

        • +2

You are kidding yourself if you think a Japanese made car isnt riddled with Chinese made parts.

    • Very true. But this is Ozbargain remember. Any suggestions to the contrary will just result in a barrage of downvotes.

      • this phenomenon is called OzBarrage

Toyota Yaris! 5 years warranty plus 5 years cap-priced servicing ($195 per service)

    • +3

Which Yaris costs less than $25k brand new?

      • You walked in and ask for it :). Remember nobody pays RRP.

  • Just picked up a 2018 Mazda 3 Atenza (top of the line) with 25000kms on it. You might be able to find similar within your budget - definitely worth it.

  • Honda City might be around that price?
    if not Surely a Jazz

A Suzuki Swift is also an option

    around/under $25k:
    suzuki ignis
mazda cx-3 — The one I would pick if couldn't go over $25k
    toyota yaris
    suzuki swift

    a little over $25k:
    toyota corolla
    mitsubishi asx
    mazda 3
    subaru impreza
