Can we fit a king size mattress to Ikea 180 x 200 bed frame?

Hi guys, we have just bought the ZZZ Atelier king size mattress from ebay. The dimension appears to be 183cm x 203cm. We have not received the mattress yet.

We went to Ikea to find a suitable bed frame - they only have the queen size bed frames on display but they are also available in the 180 x 200 version. The staff is not sure if a standard king size mattress will fit the bed frame as they say their bed frames are designed to suit those 180 x 200 Ikea mattress.

The dimension of a standard king size mattress is quite close to the Ikea 180 x 200 standard (although not exactly the same) - anyone has tried this combo? Using an Ikea bedframe with a king size mattress?

Thanks

  • Just tell the mattress to breath in as you put it in

  • Yes will fit. I have same mattress with IKEA king bed frame. 👍

    • That is great. Which Ikea bed frame do you use please?

You may want to consider a ZZZ Atelier bed frame due to the limited mattress warranty requirements

    • bah. it's so cheap who cares. buy another one if it breaks. I can't imagine it would be economical to ship a king size mattress back under warranty.

Expect 2-ish years before it sags and they ignore you when you try to warranty them.

Source: Just Binned my 2 year 3 month old mattress due to a deep sag.

        • I have a king and no significant sag. Had it at least 3 years. And I'm yuge.

      • Preference is to avoid contributing to waste unnecessarily, if avoidable.

We also bought a ZZZ Atelier mattress for the spare room and then considered a bed base which is when we noticed the warranty requirements. Ended up getting their bed frame as well as it was free delivery & price was comparable for the quality to what we would have paid elsewhere.

  • The measurements of the ZZZ you have mentioned are standard for a KB mattress
If Ikea is selling a bed frame as a King you would expect it would fit any standard king size mattress

Ikea is careful to qualify that their bed frame size is 180 x 200. They don't label it as king size per se.

  • i went to a mattress providers (snooze) and they did note that ikea sizing is euro sizing which is slightly different.
    They noted single doesn't align

i have a queen and it fits for ikea so dunno

    • I work for a bedding retailer and thats bulldust

      Euro KB 160cm X 200xm
      AUS KB: 183cm X 203cm

      Ikea Bed Frame: 180cm X 200cm

So if it was a "euro" size it would be a LOT different

Sounds to me like the store was trying to convince you to buy something from them by telling you porky pies

I've asked Ikea and they told me their bed frames doesn't fit standard australian sized mattresses.

But I was buying a gigantic bellagio mattress from HN.

    • Single they can be a bit longer, matt will fit but might have space at end

DB, QB and KB mattress will fit fine
      SKB: no chance

We have an Art and Science king mattress with the IKEA Malm 180x200cm bed frame and the mattress is about 1cm too long and wide for the bed frame. You can squeeze it in if you really wanted too, but you need to do it every time you change the sheets.

We have the Lonset slats on the highest setting which is almost flush with the bed frame anyway so it doesn't really matter so much as the mattress kind of sits on top.

    • Thanks mate. That is good info for us to consider. We are considering the Ikea Malm and Ikea Brimnes.

      • We have two single extra long mattresses in a malm frame, bit if a snug fit but definitely works for us.

  • Our mattress arrived today. Just to say that the king mattress fits well with the Ikea Malm Ottoman bed frame.

    • Sorry to dig up an old thread - This is the exact set up that I am hoping for, so wanted to ask how it is working out almost a year later and particularly if the standard sized mattress interferes with the raising and lowering of the Ikea bed? Also has it proved to be durable? Thanks in advance!!
