Digital Camera for $100

Just want a cheap digital camera preferably 1 that can record video as well. I remember seeing 1 for $99 in the city but i should have just got it.

Comments

  • Sony Cybershot DSC-W510 $90 at Officeworks. I bought it last week for a relative, and it works fine. Video is decent too.

  • Canon Powershot A2200 $99.95 at Teds Cameras

  • Thanks guys. Am i correct in assuming that the fuji 1 is as good as the 3 others (it seems to be according to that comparison chart)

Also, do they all come with built-in memory or will i need a memory card to store photos/video on the camera?

    Cheers

  • yes you will need a memory card, as for what class of card thats were it gets tricky….. (I have a class10 card in mine, maybe its over kill but it works)

  • So a cheapo card like this wouldn't work? http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XG4917/polaroid-2gb-sd-memor…

    • It should work. I saw a 2GB card in Officeworks for $5, can't remember the brand name now.

    • Just get Sandisk brand… the speed will be fine for that style of camera.
A quality brand card that keeps your pics is the most important thing.

    • get an 8gig card. ebay is full of them for $8 - $10.
if you're going on holiday and recording video then size matters.

  • I know it is over your budget a little but would be money well spent and you will get a whole lot more camera for your money…>> Canon SX130IS $148.50 on special now at DSE.

BTW… The Canon A1200 recommended above is one of the few digital cameras these days that still has a TTL viewfinder. A TTL viewfinder gives the advantage of being able to use the camera with the display turned off thus greatly extending battery life. It also allows you to take photos where light does not permit clear viewing of the lcd screen. That camera also has wide screen capability as well, something that is very handy in areas where space is limited.

  • Thx all i ended up getting the nikon coolpix s3100 for $88 from DSE… hope it goes ok.

  • which is best for low-light?

    • a $300 one, you want one with a large aperture (small number ie f2.0), and a large sensor none of the above really have that
