Hi Everyone!

So I just purchased my first place and looking for a new fridge, washing machine and TV.

I'm not too fuss on buying brand new items and wondering if anyone have any experience shopping at Harvey Norman 2nd worlds or Appliances Warehouse at Bankstown ?

I'm open to suggestion in where to buy these items too!

  • my tenant is in rental arrears of about 10 weeks

Wouldn't that be your first place? :o

What kind of experiences are you looking for? I doubt being specific to Bankstown makes any difference to Harvey Norman seconds/Appliance Warehouse.

Like anything, research the product you want, look at OzBargain/Internet Archive historic deals and then offer them a price you're willing to pay (or wait until a bargain / 20% off ebay+cash rewards, etc).

Well i'll clarify - my first place to live in

  • Neither place is that great on range or price.
Definitely go into the stores.. best value to be had on floorstock markdowns

I would stick away from factory seconds in general. Carton damage is okay but you’ll never know what ones were just carton damage cause most sales reps will tell you they are all only scratch dint when in 95% of the cases with factory seconds they have had actual repairs.

I got a dryer from HN seconds in Richmond 10 years ago and it's still going strong. YMMV.

Its luck of the draw to be honest but whoever is negging me you're welcome. But i'll be the first to say I told you so. Take it from the guy who is in the appliance industry and who is in charge of factory seconds repairs for NSW for a manufacture.

        • Any deals on refurbed seconds 😂

          • @randomusername2017: I honestly would tell you not to waste your time of money. Some manufactures repair their own goods before they sell it to the 2nds shop and the manufacture warrants the product, those machines are a much better option. Some manufactures sell the products faulty to the 2nds shop and it’s up to the seconds shop to repair and warrant the machine, those are the machines you want to stay away from.

            • @Capo93: Would you have any recommendations which 2nds shop to shop at ? :)

              • @Lifespan: Electrolux(Westinhouse, Simspon, Chef etc) & Beko factory seconds are repaired by the manufacture and are generally warranted by the manufacture. LG, Samsung, Hisense are repaired by the store(generally to a poor quality) and are warranted by the store so you will tend to have more warranty issue with brands that are repaired and warranted by the store.

I’ve bought a few things from scratch and dent places and haven’t had any issues.

You might want to consider looking at Costco.

  • Thanks for all the comments guys !
