How do you exit from a restaurant?

I am wondering how others in ozbargain go about leaving a restaurant after finishing their meal with a group buy voucher. Most places now take my voucher as I enter the establishment, which means by the end of the meal, if I haven't ordered anything else, I'd feel weird just standing up, and saying thanks and bye.

Sometimes I've asked for the bill, knowing there is none and other times just thanking them for the meal and walking. Either way has felt awkward, so how do you guys go about it?

What's the problem? Just smile at the personnel and thank them for a nice meal, if it was one. Do you also feel awkward leaving food courts? :)

Are you sure you're a true ozbargainer?

Agreed, check cloudy's OzB passport & visa…they may not be valid. :)

Maybe order something else so you do end up with a bill- maybe an extra beer! that would solve the problem

    • With most vouchers I do, but some come with the works, so ordering anything else really isn't needed. I'm surprised no one else feels this way

    RUN!

Get the heck out of there so it looks like you've just gotten a free meal! xD

    • Lol, it's not free, just pre-paid

LOL, reminds me of a group of colleagues I went out with once. We paid the bill whilst one guy was in the dunny, when he came out we were on the footpath outside, we made out like we hadn't paid & had slipped out quietly.

He abused us for being dishonest, went back inside & tried to pay again. We couldn't hear what the staff were saying but the look on all of their faces was priceless…he then came back out & abused us again for being a-holes! Ah, good times! :)

Oh, back on topic…if the food &/or service are exceptional, I will alway leave a good tip, coupon or not! I want the restaurant & good staff to be there when I go back if they're good! ;)

    1. If you liked the restaurant, then order something else. Let them make a few $$$ if you intend to go back. My scottish mate always wonders why the places she goes close down…..
    2. If the place is just average, give a polite thanks, maybe tell them what you didn't like (constructive feedback is a big + to a restaurant).
    3. If it sucks, just leave. DONT tell them what is wrong, make them suffer.
  • simply just finish ur meal get out and go. no shame / gut feeling. i think this post is stupid

Haven't had this happen much as I also order extras from the voucher. Other times I dont feel awkward walking out. a nice thank you and leaving a tip on the table (if deserved) is perfectly fine. Just know that there are plenty of people with the same voucher doing the same thing and the people wont even remember you after an hour.

i just walk out, if they haven't collected the voucher at the begin i'll give it to them after i'm done.
you've already paid so what's the problem, its just like buying maccas. you pay and get your food and when you are done you leave. in this case you pay give them voucher and eat then leave.
