  • This is older model right?

    • no, this is the latest in the A119 family.

      • +1

Yeah, v3 is the latest version from what I know. Had this for over a year one now, hardwired it into the fuse box, amazing camara. Parking mode works great (when hardwired to the fuse box). Although, I read in a pervious deal that the current update bricked the parking mode, but I have no idea if it is true (correct me if I am wrong).

        • Hi have you encountered any battery drainage from hard wiring it? I heard it causes the battery to degrade faster due to parking mode is it true?

          • +1

@Boxcuttahz: It's true for all similar dashcam that drains the battery. I set mine to turn off after 12 hours of parking to save battery.

          • @Boxcuttahz: nope I have not battery issues with my car, but my car did indicate that my battery was running low after I came back from a holiday (about two weeks of not starting the car). I just went to supercheap, they tested the battery and said it was fine and then they checked the fuse box and said its fine too. They basically explained that I needed to drive the car around so that the alternator can charge the battery up back to normal and it did, no issues after that. I installed it myself and had an electrician friend look at it - no problems.

I justed used the hardwire kit from their webnsite, they also have a guide on their website on how to install it into your fuse box plus all the youtube videos.

            • @DeliriousWhale: Thank you so much for this clarification, I've been wanting advice for such a long time with no success. This makes me feel a little more confident hard wiring it to my car now thanks to you. Now time to find deals for a blackvue dr900x ☺

              • @Boxcuttahz: Yeah, I did a lot of research on how to do it properly, too much than necessary. The trickiest part was finding a grounding bold you can attach the grounding wire because some screw on the body of the car might have a current running through it (acts as ground, any electrician please correct me haha)

I would recommend buying a decent voltmeter, I tried one of the cheap ones from bunnings and it ended up braking.
I would recommend taking to the guys at a Jaycar Electronics store, they were helpful at explaining things to me about wiring it up. If you have never played around with the fuse box before, I would 100% talk to these guys about how to use fuse taps correctly as you need to make sure you tap the right fuse (right way around).

I found that the A119 V3 parking mode is very good, I just park it in an underground parking complex, and it would record every single car that would drive past it for the entire day long. But please do check if the current update still supports parking mode.
But anyone can install a hardwire kit, just requires time and a lot of patience haha.

                https://www.viofo.com/en/blog/how-to-hardwire-viofo-dash-cam…

Viofos guide to hardwire the dashcam, this looks different to what I used, they had a PDF version of it but I can’t find it anymore.

                • +1

@DeliriousWhale: Thanks so much once again great advice! I think by the looks of it I'll just look for a professional to install this coz I'm really not good with technical stuff hehe

          • +1

@Boxcuttahz: The 3 wire hardwire kits now come with a settable low voltage cutoff switch. They'll run until they reach the cutoff.

            • @Joejoeinc: Yeah, that is correct, just gotta make sure to switch it to the correct settings.

            • +1

@Joejoeinc: Thanks heaps hopefully the professionals know the proper setting

        • NVM - found it.

  • Mini USB or micro USB power cable?

    • +3

      Correct

      • +1

        You mean right

  • Is anyone using the front and rear version? Is the rear camera necessary? Thanks

    • +1

For rear collision, the liability falls on the car behind you, typically. Thus most people don't have rear dashcam installed.

You can never have enough dashcam for blind-spot-free setup, front, back, side, inside, outside……

Just go with your budget. I went for front-only setup.

I found A119 V3 offers the best return on investment for now, bought it recently and very happy with it so far.

Too many "4K" models actually scale-up footage, since the sensor module does not natively capture 4K resolution.

      Happy shopping :)

PThis version has Gps. Will that be an issue sometimes you drive few kms above the speed limit and the videos are required for the evidence purpose. In short, you could be trouble even someone else hit your car.

Did you buy 64gb or 128gb? I think that Samsung sd card is more reputable but it will take a while shipping from US.
        Thanks

        • We've got one of these with the CPL filter and it's been great. Looking to get a second for the other car.

I've got a 128gb Samsung EVO plus inside which does the job. As for size, I just means you'll have a longer retention period of videos (ones that don't get locked at least).

edit: it's also worth noting that I got mine with CPL included for around this price from Aliexpress which have a decent sale periodically. Just takes about a month for delivery.

          • @slapz: Thanks. Hope someone can comment on my question related to GPS side. Samsung sd card could take around one half week to arrive. I will need to find another sd card to use temporarily if I purchase this model.

      • +1

I purchased a separate dashcam and installed on the rear, using 12V power from the boot. This way I don't need to run the wire.

        • Means you gotta have two SD cards and combine them etc?

        • Also removes single point of failure. If front cam fails or sd card fails its isolates to just the one unit… And yes, less wires

        • How did you get that boot power?

      • Not if the guy in front of you goes to Reverse and claim you hit them. Happened to my friend. Lucky he had dashcam to prove he was standstill.

Can someone confirm that this CPL fits A119v3? Thanks

    https://www.amazon.com.au/VIOFO-Circular-Polarizing-Compatib…

    • literally says it in the title and description that it fits. the reviews mention it too.

      • -1

Just need to confirm as this one was released much earlier than the A119V3.Sometimes, these reviews could mix with different products on Amazon. I bought a car phone mount another day, some reviews were talking about different gens.

    • +1

Yes, I can confirm that CPL fits A119 v3

      Bought the identifical item recently

  • Does this come with the parking hard-wiring kit ?

    • To answer my own question (and if someone else has same question), as per questions on Amazon AU, this does NOT come with hard wiring kit.

  • Does this need to be plugged in to the cigarette lighter power socket to function? Does it have a battery run time (say, for the parking mode)? Thanks

    • +1

      No and no
You can hardwire it and it does not have built-in battery, less thing to worry about in hot weather. Still have my v2 from 5 years ago, still going strong.

  • If anyone is interested I bought it from Kogan https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/eesecurer-viofo-a119-gps-v3-256…

Which includes the GPS, CPL + HARDWARE KIT $198

    • +1

Thanks for the option. However, in my experience, dealing with Amazon AU customer services is far better experience than Kogan.

      • +1

Ive had no problems when an order didnt arrive from Kogan.

Either way each to own, I had 20% off from Kogan so yeah

    • +1

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VIOFO-A119-V3-GPS-Dash-Camera-Re…

$180 for GPS+HWK with free delivery. I got extra $10 off so it becomes $170

      Is it a good deal?

      • That is a great price.

      • +1

That seller is the same seller as the one on Kogan I bought from.

But I had more discounts with Kogan :P

        • What discounts? I don't use kogan much

          • +1

@subywagon: 20% off with amex cards
or 30% off $100 if u have CBA.

bought evouchers to triger the discounts

  • Bought one, Thanks OP.

  • Should I get this or A129 Plus model? The only issue pushing me back from buying this A119 V3 is the lack of Wifi.
I'm using Macbook Air M1 and don't have any USB hub or SD Card adapter.
    Thanks

    • +2

Invest in a USB hub for your Mac.

  • Order A119v3 + HWK + CPL + 64GB SanDisk SDcard from Amazon yesterday. Playing with them at the moment.
    Love Prime deliveries.

Will mount into my car over the weekend.

  • Any recommended micro SD cards for use with these dashcams ?

    • SanDisk or Samsung high endurance, 64, 128 or 256 GB, whatever suits you.

      • Yeah, got Samsung High Endurance, $22 for 64 GB. Hardwired last night, thinking should have gone for 128 GB.

        • +1

Nice, don't forget to hop onto the Viofo website, and install the latest v2.4 firmware. It enables 60fps recording I believe, which will mean moving licence plates are less blurry. However you'll have less recordings saved due to higher file sizes.

I ordered this dashcam last night, only have a 16GB card on hand so I'll have to purchase another I guess? Can you tell me if there's a 1440p 60fps recording option?

          • @Techie4066: Yes 1440p 60fps option is available; ventured out to confirm this for you.

            https://imgur.com/r3fGO3B

            • @notJV: Thanks for that, it's excellent Viofo added that. Is that after doing the update? Hope the link has been useful for you.

              • @Techie4066: I am not sure if 1440p 60fps was there previously. Thanks for sharing the firmware update link.
