Tasting Notes:

Double Barrel Shiraz

The full, generous flavours of classic Barossa Shiraz are enhanced by careful use of aged Scotch whisky barrels for finishing.
The intense nose offers cedar, vanilla bean and buttered toast with notes of pecan nut and roast cashew.
An attractive, savoury palate of blackberry and ripe plum with integrated charry notes and a lovely soft finish

Cellar Signature Cabernet Merlot

A classic blend made in a modern, Australian style. A medium-bodied wine that is soft and approachable, laden with delicious fruit flavours.
The palate is rich with dark plum and blackberry leaf and is rounded out by soft, velvety tannins.

Signature Shiraz Cabernet

A premium, full-bodied blend in the traditional Australian style that captures the true character of the Barossa with its generous palate and smooth style.
Showcasing rich dark fruits and spices from both varietals with hints of cedar oak and smooth tannins towards finishing.

Secret Bottle has been around for about 5-6 years now. The warehouse is based in Zetland, Sydney.
This deal has been put together directly with Jacob's Creek and is all officially endorsed.

History lesson is nice, but Orlando Wines and it's brand Jacob's Creek, is now owned by French alcoholic beverage company Pernod Ricard.

      Hi Wolfy,

You are correct, Jacob's Creek is owned by Pernod Ricard Winemakers Australia.

      • Yes, and Pernod Ricard Winemakers is the wholly owned wine subsidiary of French wine and spirits producer Pernod Ricard, which is one of the largest alcoholic beverage companies in the world. (thanks Google)

  • Hi OP, I couldn't find what the vintages are. Would you provide this info pls?

    • +1

Vintages are 2018 for all the wines.

4 alright wines and 2 good ones
Although at $14 average per bottle these are similar to retail bar the double barrels where you save roughly $6 each.

The Double Barrell is definitely the stand out of the bunch, but I will say that we were impressed with the Cellar Signature Cabernet Merlot when we tried it for the first time 2 weeks ago. Personally, I'm not normally a huge Merlot fan but this one is smooth and easy to drink and one I've now taken around to show a few mates.

Drinking the double barrel at the moment where it's available at my local for IGA $17.95 and if you want to price match at Dan's it'll be cheaper and if you want to get 6 of them it'll be cheaper again. It's an ok drop, nothing special but better than the other two varieties.

But 6 bottles of reasonable reds delivered for free seems like a good idea at roughly $13.65 a bottle.
Use the Merlot for cooking duties, drink the Shiraz Cab and lay the Double barrel down as it'll get better.

  • Thanks for the good deal great . Going to buy 6 boxes. My European friends will definitely miss the taste of tannins.

    • Thanks Sunnyc, enjoy!
