Citibank Premier Nee Signature Card and Priority Pass

Hello.

I used to have a visa signature card from Citibank; no annual fee, Rewards, 2 priority pass lounge visits per year etc.

Citibank changed it to a MasterCard premier Citibank card some time last year.

This has caused my Priority Pass membership to become inactive.

Interestingly online my card had my last years expiry while I had a physical card with June 2021 expiry.

I contacted Citibank who gave me a link and code to make a new priority pass membership. (Which I used almost instantly as I was at the airport at the time; Wagnu burger and a pint of beer).

My gripe is that I have lost the 2 visits (well, food and beer meals) for June 2020-June 2021 as the new membership runs from May 2021 to May 2022 and I’ve used it once already (today).

My warning to others is even if you have a valid priority pass plastic card check online to see if your account is current

It took me about half an hour on the phone with Citibank. Maybe there is another way to fix it.

Short Version: Citibank changed from visa to MasterCard causing my priority pass to be inactive and I ‘lost’ two visits (which I would have used buying meals).

  • Mine is still Visa.

  • Mine too still visa. Bottom says Signature top says premier.

Where about you can use PP to get burger and beer? Restaurant name location please.
Do you need valid boarding pass or they dont check can we go in to that area without boarding pass

      • To be eligible, Cardholders must present a valid Card and Boarding Pass with confirmed same-day travel before placing an order.

        duh… game over

        • Yer, you need to be airside.

No boarding pass was asked for and ‘card’ was scanned from the website (so no physical card required).

This is in Forums not in Deals.

Sydney domestic 2 doesn’t have a great choice by the way. Rex lounge has no alcohol until after 3pm. Movida is an option. It looked okay.

Mind you Melbourne terminal 4 only has Rex lounge and I’ll be there before 3pm. Pass.

  • I’m not sure why mine changed to MC.

I had no choice in it.

    • Yeah they have a new strategic partnership, so are rolling all new cards over.
An inside source told me Citibank are looking for a buyer for their Australian consumer banking business(Its public news now).

      • Sad. Another provider of credit card points gone.

  • Old thread but just wanted to thank the Op!

Just happened to me, physical card valid but inactive in their systems, had to Google, find this thread, and sign up for a new MC-PP account. Cheers Op!

  • Mine is still visa

  • Discovered this issue today when checked my PP while at airport. Found out my PP has marked as expired last month - but Citibank CC still valid till next year. My is still Visa.

  • Same issue for me, hadn't used ,ime since 2020, now well expired. Looking through citi website looks like this perk has been removed from there cards.

    • I just had the same issue.
The perk isstill be here for premier cards (see link) https://www1.citibank.com.au/premier-benefits-terms/mobile

For some reason (probably Citi's bad design) you can't get the details and the activation code on the website but it works through the app if you go into the rewards section.
Like Eeples I had to sign up for a new account - the old one was tied to the Visa Card.

  • I was just at the airport and found mine has expired too. Was swapped to Mastercard. I've missed this opportunity to use the lounge but I did find a code in my email to re-register a new account with the new premier card.

  • Restaurants in Sydney airport, some are closed

  • I did get a code and registered the account but it has expired. Anyone managed to get the account extended or will Citibank give a new code?

  • PriorityPass doesn't have any good domestic lounges in Australia.
International Terminals? Yes, the house lounges are superb.

If you hold an American Express Platinum Card - you can get access to any Virgin Australia operated lounge. (Must be flying on a VA flight and no guests)
