Troubleshooting Help for Roborock S50 Vac

Hi OzBs,

Judging from the deals over the years, i think it safe to say there are a fair number of us with S50 Roborock vacs.

I have trolled the net but unable to find a solution to an issue i am having with my vac. All of a sudden the vac would start cleaning and then at a certain point just stop and switch off. I would then have to manually take it back to the charger to get it to reboot. The battery life when it stops is at about 40-60% so it isnt a charge problem i believe.

Note: I have factory reset the vacuum, i have deleted maps and the app and reinstalled it but still cant get it to map my home without it randomly powering off and having to start the whole process as explained above again.

It is basically useless to me at the moment which kills me because i swear by this machine.

Anybody having similar issues or have any solutions for me? Next steps are to contact roborock but thought I would ask the other experts here first ;-)

Vac is just over 3 years old.

    Sounds to me like you could need a new battery

      Yeah sounds like that to me too.

      OP - sounds like you can switch it back on without charging it first? It could be getting down to that ~50% mark and then the battery is unable to supply enough power for the entire machine (computer, drive motor/s, vacuum, etc)

      Just like a car battery - you might be able to put in into ACC and run the radio, but it doesn't have enough juice to turn the starter motor.

        Mmm…never thought of it like that. Fair call from both of you. Will have to see if cost of replacing battery (if possible) is worth it

        original capacity is 5200mAh

          If you look at the listing properly, you'll see that they're selling three different capacities (5200, 6500 and 9800).

          As with anything online, if you get what you're actually sold is anyone's guess, unless they're a vetted business.

            @Chandler: Yeah across the 3 options. Just found it interesting the higher capacity batteries are supposedly compatible for the S50.

            Online I'm fairly confident with. Online on AliExpress…not so ;)

      Nope. Says nothing it just dies.

    Hey all. Just want to say a big thanks for the help. It was definitely a battery issue. She's back on her feet and happily on her merry cleaning way.

    I just replaced the battery in my 360 S7. It would run for 10 mins and just stop. No attempt to return to the charger. It was funny how I would find it somewhere random each time. Place was getting so dusty because it took me a month to find a replacement battery.

    Also, it's 'trawled'. Trolled has an entirely different meaning.
