[QLD] $5,000 Education Grant for GST Registered ABN Holders with Less than $300k Annual Turnover

Moved to Forum: Original Link — This is a competitively assessed government grant and is not suitable as a deal.

Apologies if this is not a deal, but in my opinion it's a very generous one, the QLD govt is forking out $5,000 for each eligible small biz to help. **Moderator if this is not right - please delete or move.

The Business Basics grants program provides support to businesses to increase core skills and adopt best practice.

This support includes funded activities in 5 priorities:

The program is administered by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT).

Available funding
You may be eligible for a single up-front fixed grant payment of $5,000 (excluding GST).

The grant is for funding activities from one of the above priorities.

    Wonder if it'll be OzBargained?

Applications close when (whichever happens first):

we receive sufficient applications for a competitive assessment

    30 June 2021.

  • A great initiative I think. I wonder if other states have similar deal too? I mean grant.

So far, I think QLD is totally winning and most generous. WA is not so great. The others have got some sort of stimulus package, but not fantastic.

I think the big thing missing from your post is:

Note: This grant program is competitively assessed. Not all applications will be funded.

    • The last one was exhausted (ended) within 5 days :|

Yep I am more getting at that your application will be judged and compared against other applications.

It's not just a submit and you will get paid, like the $10,000 grant.

Says minimum $5k spend. Does it have to be $5k on one activity or can you do for example $3k accounting $3k website?

    • Yes, you can do up to 2 suppliers. If you're free, come along to the networking, ask questions and hear what people got to say - https://qldbbgrants.eventbrite.com.au

**supplier quotes detailing who will undertake the work, description of services, and outline key activities (no more than 2 quotes and the total must equal at least $5,000 before GST).

        • Thanks wasn't sure if that was 2 quotes for the one activity to ensure competitive quoting.

          • @leyton01: I know - the wording is a bit confusing, but you can definitely have 2 suppliers quotes totalling of $5,000.

            Here’s more information:
What do you mean by no more than two supplier quotes?

You need evidence how you will spend the grant funding. The grant funding of $5,000 must be used to procure services from an independent supplier. The services from the supplier/s must equal in total, a minimum of $5,000 (excluding GST). You will be only be able to upload 1 quote per supplier. A maximum of 2 suppliers is allowed (1 quote per supplier). You do not need to upload comparative quotes – they must be your preferred supplier for the preferred services that the grant funding will contribute towards, if successful. Your quotes can equal more than $5,000 but only $5,000 in grant funding will be available for successful grant applicants.

  • NSW paid only 1500$

  • I have training coming up in September, can I apply for this or must It be new spending? It totals over 5k.

    • Yes, you should be able to, have you paid for it? If you include the quote, ask your provider to change the payment terms (to be payable by QLD Govt), you should be able to.

Come along to our event for a bit more information and chat with other businesses (if you’re available).

      • My apologies - I am NOT associated with business.qld.gov.au
I can't edit or delete the above comment. I have to make this clear. I am not at all associated with QLD govt and the funding body for this grant.

For some reason every comment is making me "associated". I am not working for business.qld.gov.au

        • Yes already paid for

          • @randog: Not eligible unfortunately.

We will not fund activities with either:

a total cost of less than $5,000 (excluding GST)
payments made before 17 May 2021.
