  • Dude all these books have been previously posted

    • But not in the title of a deal, which is why it's allowed.

Plus, the post only had AU versions, not US versions as well as they are different editions. Only saw now they were in description of another post - so easy to miss when there is such a long list.
Plus, book's such as Swann are not there at all.

I haven't got some of the books, so still very good. I have been collecting kindle for at least a few years now. Many times, I encountered books that I have in the library without knowing, but it is good that you post it because I may not have it. Can't complain if it is free and someone is spending the time to post the deal.

      • I also vote plus on the deal where I can download at least one book that I don't have. Although a few times, I have all the books that were posted by OP, so I didn't upvote.

        • +2

Well, I will do my best to find you at least one new book per post although of course with the classics it might be a bit more difficult.

          • @Lysander: Hi Lysander, you can post any books, my comment is just to mean I chose to not upvote if a deal is not useful, rather than be critical of your work, as what you post may benefit someone in the ozbargain community, even if it is one person, it is still a good post.

          • @Lysander: Also I just think it is an ozbargain etiquette not to downvote or be critical of someone who volunteer their time to post a deal on free stuff.

  • Hard to believe that LCL was banned in Australia for close to 40 years.

we actually studied it in high school around 1979 or so. I can't remember what grade I was in, so I am guessing year 10?

Not sure why someone would neg your comment. Have a green plus. We looked at his "Sons and lovers" in about year 10.

I'm always trying to get into these classics but struggle to get through, largely because it's hard to grasp the archaic language and style of writing properly without a dictionary and study guides. Do most people just ignore bits they don't understand and hope they're following along?

    • +2

I don't read the eBooks, I only collect them :P

    • Keep an eye out for annotated versions - they help a lot with the language and with interpretation (for example, with Shakespeare) and also provide historical context.

      • oh, yes, I forgot, we did that one too!

  • Lady Chatterley's Lover (US) not free… 84c

    • Yeah I usually am pretty good but clicked buy before verifiying. I've requested a refund through their procedures but when I did this a couple of years ago, I always end up stung with a difference. Anyway it's not a huge deal, and worth it for all the free books, but it' s annoying. Amazon's only reason for not allowing a customer to set their account to verify the purchase is that most people won't notice or won't bother refunding. It shouldn't be legal.

Marked it as not free. Thank you. It was free when I posted but of course Amazon keeps changing prices pretty quickly.
