VIC: Have You Received a Delayed Electricity Bill Spanning over 4 Months? You May Only Be Liable for 4 Months Payment

More of a community service announcement, I recently received an electricity bill going back many months. This was after two complaints to my provider and one to the ombudsman over recent months regarding the missing/delayed bill(s).

Cut to the chase, the ombudsman (EWOV) advised I am only liable for the past 4 months (a new rule which came into effect in VIC this year) provided I had clear access to my meter (smartmeter in my case, so no issues) It's on the EWOV website if you'd like to DYOR.

TLDR: Previously a consumer was liable for 9 months, presently 4.

Passed that onto my retailer, escalated to a case manager, and had all but four months credited back. Can't complain about that resolution…
