Amazon Cancelled Order for Sony STRDN1080 AV Receiver

Well damn…

I ordered one of these Jan 24, and have been waiting patiently for it to ship… now, 4 months later they cancel the order saying they can't fulfil it! ( I ordered it within a few minutes of it being made available again at the time)

Sony STRDN1080.CEK 7.2 CH 4K UHD AV Receiver with Dolby Atmos and Multi-Room - Black

Has this happened to anyone else?

I got onto customer service to find out why it was cancelled, and got the above reason, and they've credited my account with a $10 coupon (woop de doo), but also said if it comes available again and I buy it but for more than the original price they will refund the difference ( I asked if the same goes for Aussie stock and they said yes)

Wondering if anyone else who ordered through my post managed to get one or not?

    Yep, that happens. They anticipate future stock but it doesn't materialise. No harm done since haven't paid anything yet.

    I had something similar with some ram from a black Friday sale, I waited several weeks to only get a similar email, but when I spoke with customer support they found the same ram from another retailer and discounted the difference at checkout.

    They have no stock, what do you want them to do? They even say so themselves

    Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

      Well not putting things up for sale that they don't actually have would be good.

      The 'currently unavailable' is how it should stay if they don't have stock…which is how it was, until they made it available for sale.

        When you first listed the deal, you yourself said it was a 'pre-order'. Remember saying that back when you published the deal back on the 24/01/2021? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/599900/revisions/1268846/v…

        You also said at the time

        But could be a long delivery time. I don't have a date as yet..

        Guess what, you didn't get a delivery date. Sometimes happens with PRE ORDERS. The stock never arrives for some reason or another.

        You win some, you lose some. In this case, you didn't win.

          Actually, when i bought it, it said 'in stock'
          Soon after i posted the deal (3 hours after i ordered it), it went to 'pre-order' (or whatever amazon call it.. pre-order is what Ozbargain wanted to call it) :)

              Yeah I did put pre-order in the title to begin with but it was removed…
              Previously you couldn't even order it, so they must be expecting stock.

              Agreed, it was never showing in-stock…

    Refunding the difference. Damn. You got money back, put into savings account, and 10 bucks credit plus same price promise later.

    That's not bad especially since you wanted one.

      amazon don't charge until it ships, so there was never any 'money' to give back.

        Just be patient then. That's pretty good in the overall scheme of things. Especially when you compare to others.

        Except bunnings. I mean a lot of people didn't get the drone, but at least they got 250 bucks.

    OP, I have one of these Denon Amps I bought from amazon and it is actually really good and a close match to the sony. Hop onto chat again and ask if they can refund the difference on this one since they are similar items. They should be able to do that because in experience amazon support has been amazing and you have waited for months only to have your order cancelled.

        OP bought their sony one for $719 and amazon might refund the difference of the denon one to make that $719 and that's a really good deal and better than eBays deal

      For where it's going i need 2x HDMI out
