Lenovo Legion 7 Ryzen 5900 HX and 3080 Now up for Orders

It just went live on the website today, but not available on the general site yet, unless you have the direct link.

Over 5k and student site is another $420 or so off. Still ridiculously expensive compared to the singaporean store.

So did online chat and got the price down, along with 3 year warranty. Also cashrewards. So not bad pricing once the discount and cashback taken into account

Honestly pretty ridiculous pricings this time round for Lenovo. Even if you disregard sigaporean prices, In China they sold it for 15999 cny which is ~3200 aud for the same specs. Like what the hell? Just because Australia have a higher GDP/median wage/whatever doesnt mean you can just markup your laptops to Alienware level when legions just dont have the zephyrus/alienware touch to it, nor the build quality, nor the resale value. Already In Chinese forums, lots of people are already complaining about high pitch noises in legion 5 pros and excessive battery drains with the legion 7 with the rgb software on. And you have to wait an eternity for the machine to arrive in the first place.

I already have a 3070 machine but even if I didnt its still a hard pass for me, no way Im paying that much for a lenovo, even if it have like 20-30w more gpu power than the competition, that translates to what? 10% extra framerates? Get the f outta here.

    • Do you mean https://item.lenovo.com.cn/product/1013625.html

That is the Legion 5 Pro 3070 model with 5800H and 2.5 TB SSD

      • nah not this. when the 3080 model was just released, it sold for 15999(or was it 14999) on JD for quite a while iirc

        • Probably JD for 14999 but demand is pretty high right now. All the 3080 max TDP laptops are going for over 5k for MSI and alienware right now. Asus has the new S17 @ 130 or 140w, but I doubt that will come under $5k as well. Even Infinity and Metabox are going for over 4k right now.

          • @azukay: That is true, however, I guess what Im trying to say is I dont sit well with the fact that while the other brands have the 'premium' branding to it, which the lenovo doesnt and yet they charge just as much, and the fact that they dont charge remotely as much in other countries.

            • @Brrrrt: Well technically Legion branding is the counter to Zephyrus and Alienware. All metal chasis for the legion 7 and RGB for days. Legion 7 with the RGB off can pass as a premium laptop like their thinkpad lines.

But I do agree it is the inconsistent pricing that is annoying. Obviously cheapest in China, then followed by in SEA. Australia gets ripped off by multinationals no matter what you buy, just look at software and games.

Currently I own an Acer predator Triton 700 from 4 or so years ago which my wife is using at this stage while the build is decent I wouldn't call it amazing. In addition my own laptop right now is Asus Zephyrus GX703. The powerbrick failed after a year and multiple keyboard RGB failures. Granted I took it to their service centre and was repaired in 2 days and got a new power adapter. It is nice if you live close to their service centre. But with lenovo service it is like Dell, technician comes to you if you buy premium service.

Lenovo Chinese site doesn't even have the R9000K

JD has it and it is well priced.

But yes unfortunately regional pricing is everywhere nowdays.

    According to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEf0668ZogU

If you can understand chinese, the price he bought it was 14999 yuan and the price has increased to 21999 due to stock shortages at the time he released the video.

So I guess like everything it is just a supply vs demand kind of thing. But yes it is much cheaper to buy it in China vs RRP. I bought it at $3819 with 3 years premium warranty so it isn't too bad vs ridiculous 5100 RRP in AU.

  • Glad I got the Legion 7 5800H + RTX3070 for $2680 back in 30th of April… Early June shipping so still a while to get it

  • Did Lenovo include a nice beaches tax? It's an increase of over 30% on the Infinity W5-5R9R8N-999.

  • How were you able to secure this price? Only via chat or student discount plus chat plus…?
Interested in getting it. 2 month wait is long though.
And the ASUS Zephyrus Duo 15 SE is quite tempting too.

    • Zephyrus Duo 15 SE is 4k for just the 3070 variant and not full TGP either. 3080 variants are over $5500 if you can find stock.

Just chat with them. My guy apparently had to get manager approval, don't know if this is true or not, I just stated it was way overpriced considering their singaporean pricing was around 3700 since thats the closest to Australia in terms of tax, dollar value, income etc. https://www.lenovo.com/sg/en/laptops/legion/legion-7-series/…

But according to the invoice I got after order I saved $1634 since I had premium 3 year warranty on top. No way this laptop is worth over $5k

2 months wait is a long time, but I am in no hurry, a few people have been quoted long delays but have gotten it earlier.

I really dislike the barrel plug type plugs as my current asus I have had the powerbrick replaced due to worn barrel head. I use my laptop on my lap a lot and as such the barrel plug swivels around a lot and gets worn. I had metabox/clevos prevoiusly and the barrel plug all got loose as well. If all you do is use at the table then you won't have this problem.
