Deciding between these two models for a small apartment, can you please tell me if you would recommend either of these models for carpet as most of apartment is this type of flooring

  • Do you really need a $300 robot vacuum for a studio? Buy a cheap vacuum to store under the kitchen sink and use it once a week. Use the savings to spoil yourself with something else.

    • Its a combined gift for someone who requested it

Don’t go viomi, it bounces like a space hopper on carpet. My original xiaomi is way better on carpet than my viomi v3.

    • Agree!!! I thought I was the only one who thought this.

Although I agree, this applies more so on textured rugs than it does, on just normal carpet

      • Thanks for the comments, it is just normal carpet.
I wanted to buy the original xiaomi but gearbite and other stores don't seem to stock it anymore. Hence, down to these too mainly at the price point.

  • Viomi seems better suited to hard floors and mopping checkout this comparison it does very badly on carpet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcO5Tro_ysw

  • I have a Viomi V2. Half my place is floorboards. Good for floorboards. Can't recommend it for carpet.

I was looking at Choice magazine to see the reviews and effectiveness of robot vacuums. Even the most expensive ($1500>+ machines) like IROBOT - ROOMBA S9 or i9 - the most highly rated and recommended only pulled at the most roughly 60% of the test detritus like sand, dust and other gunk out of carpet. Leaving 40% of the crap behind seems lot to me.

None of these robot vac machines is going to do as good a job as main powered Vaccuum like Dyson or Miele c3 or even stick vaccuum.

They seem fine for places with mainly hard floors like tiles or wood floor boards just not carpet. Especially thick plush pile carpet their bad at deep cleaning plush pile carpet. Next to useless at getting dirt deep in the pile

This great article on the + and - Of robot vacs.

    • I may look into miele as another option then, normal vaccum.
Sounds like Viomi v2 is definately out then.

  • be aware some body corp don't allow robot vacs due to the noise

    • Thats a new one, I dont think its that loud?

    • Are you serious? They are a lot quieter than a regular vacuum!

  • What about xiaomi 1c option? is that good on carpet?
