    good price.

    but the game sucks.

    • Does it?
I was considering it, but is this another PS4 game just updated for PS5?

Apparently it's a grind fest. Graphics look good though.

        • +2

Surprisingly not a grind fest. Quests and main story are actually really varied and fun.

          • @Spawn Peak: Did you like it as much as Odyssey?

            • @locknuts: I think Odyssey was better as an RPG, but Valhalla has been better in the departments of stealth and base-building elements.

The game looks great, but it's extremely long and not that interesting. The story isn't great. It takes about 70-80 hours to reach the ending without much side questing. And the ending provided is pretty average. There's two additional endings which require you to finish the Valhalla side quest line (which takes about 8-10 hours) and to get the full ending you need to kill all the big bad guys (about 160-200 hours)

The balance in the game is also badly lacking. You can play assassin style and spend an hour clearing a castle through stealth and caution, or you can run in there dual wielding giant axes and level the castle in minutes. Takes the incentive out of assassin playstyle.

The setting is also pretty average. It's not bad, but in comparison to ancient Egypt and ancient Greece, England is just a bit bland.

All that said, some people love this game, and the mystery stuff is fun because it's often hilarious. But personally I found it a massive letdown of a game after how good Odyssey was.

    • Lol, saved me one. Cheers.

    • i refuse to buy a game like assassins creed that has micro-transactions. makes me want to puke. even if the game was good would never buy it. when i had the impulse to play AC i bought the ezio trilogy and enjoying myself much more i imagine. even if its all cosmetic i still hate it

      • +1

What are these micro transactions you speak of?

I played (and loved) Odyssey that I picked up for free with a hardware purchase - was just the basic game with no add-ons. At no stage did I have to pay for anything extra and really was impressed by the depth of the game and of course the visuals .

I also have Valhalla from another hardware purchase ready to go.

Watch Dogs Legion $28 and Immortals Fenyx Rising $38 for anyone interested.

This game sucks. I so regret spending $60 on this. It's not even worth it at $20.

    • same here.

was so excited to get it, but it's not AC anymore

    • is it worth at $15?

  • For what it is worth I quite liked this one, not as good as the first two in the 'reboot' but definitely still worth a look.

Ubisofts games are always in the bargain bin after 6 month
just wait few more month and it will be $10 - might as well if you waited this long

    • Agree, I feel disappointed when some of the first series were good, AC1, AC3, AC: Black flag. Now … meh.

      • comparing ezio trilogy to all recent AC games except black flag makes me want to puke. ezio trilogy is just fantastic. AC games these days cater completely to the zoomers

      • yeah, Last AC games I got into were 1 and 2 - they were just so fun to play and had a great story - then with 3 it all fell apart for me and I never finished another one

  • Fantastic title, the latest story DLC takes it up a notch.

Are these prices matched off a retailer?

  • Do not buy this for XSX. There are multiple game save bugs that will cause you to lose days/weeks of progress. Ubisoft still haven't fixed them months after being reported.

    • +2

I've put 75 hours into it and have yet to have a single issue with saving, so I guess it just depends

      • You've been lucky so far. I've lost days of progress multiple times. Check out the megathreads on the Ubisoft support forums and you will see how widespread these saving issues are.

  • How’s immortal?

    • +1

Immortals Fenyx Rising is one of the most cringiest dialogues but the gameplay is fantastic. Great puzzles and world exploration, would recommend over this.

    • I'm pretty sure there are demos for it on all platforms. I'm trying to decide between Switch and PC. I play Switch a little more because of portability.
